PowerShot SD1000 camera - Cannot access ''date on photo'' feature

I have read my owner's guide, which tells me to go into postcard mode to enable my camera to print a date on the front of the camera.
I cannot seem to get the camera to go into "postcard mode"

Press FUNC.SET botton. Go to the end of last item on the left list (L, M1, M2 etc..). Select POSTAL and press FUNC.SET again.
That's all.

The PostCard size mode will not be available in the Digital Macro, Stitch Assist, or any of the Movie shooting modes. (See the last couple of pages of the manual for mode compatibility.)

How do I enable the Date/Time Stamp feature on this camera? At the moment the option is greyed out

Postcard mode takes the resolution to 1600 x 1200 and locks the resolution to Fine. It also enables the Date stamp printing on the image function.

I cant get the date stamp to turn on

In addition to having Date or Date/Time selected on the Date Stamp option in the setup menu, the camera must have the image size set to "Postcard". On the function menu that has L, M1, M2, M3, S, there is an option for "Postcard".

Canon sd1000 time and date dispay on images

The SD1000 has a built-in date stamp function but it is only available in the postcard (1600x1050) function mode. Once you switch to this mode, you can then enable the datestamp feature in the main menu.

If this is unacceptable, you can use some image editing software to add the datestamp after the photo is transferred to your computer. The date/time information is actually stored in the image's EXIF information.

Date display in photos in IXUS40

here is the solution:
The date and time can be included on the pictures taken only with the camera in postcard mode. You must also activate the date stamp option in the menu.
To set the camera into postcard mode, press the [Func.] button on the camera, then use the [arrow down] key to go down to the last option in the menu, and there you can choose the [Postcard mode]. Press [Func.] again to exit the function menu.

To set the date and time stamp, press the [Menu] button and then use the [arrow down] button to go to the [Date stamp] option in the menu. You can set this to "Date" or "Date & Time". Press the [Menu] button again to exit the menu.

No date imprint

Any printing lab that knows their maching can print the date on digital images by request. If they can't or won't accomodate this simple request, find another lab. In particular, the Fuji Frontier labs have this function readily available to the operator. They shouldn't charge you anything extra to do it, either, as it's only the press of 1 button.

Daate Stamp

Some functions are not available in all modes.

You have to select Postcard mode to be able to enable the feature (about Page 35). Postcard ratio is 3:2.
If any other ratio is selected (e.g. 3:4) then if it were possible to enable the function it would probably not appear in the printed area.
