The final spin cycle would not come on

Front load, eveything works fime untill it's time for final spin. The drum continues to spin slowly like it does when it is doing the regular wash.

  • Anonymous Apr 16, 2013

Do you still think my latch needs to be replaced if I can run a test cycle and the high speed runs properly, but my ge front loader won't go thru the last spin cycle?

Hello Noel, welcome to FixYa

Provided the model number indicated is correct the following information should be applicable to your washer.

It sounds like the unit is detecting an unlocked door, loose wire, bad reed switch etc. hence the control will not initiate a hi-speed spin. This can also be the result of an incomplete draining....make sure it is draining correctly before the spin.

I know most folks will rule out the lock initially because the unit does indeed "lock", however, the lock on these machines are a two part device, a set of contacts to lock and a secondary contact to activate hi-speed spin, i.e.

the final spin cycle would not come on - macmarkus_339.jpg
If it does indeed drain fine, then here's the next place I'd direct you to investigate. If it fails to drain, these washers will not spin.

**Unplug the unit from the wall first...safety first**

It will require you to visually inspect the timer connections, thus needing to remove the top panel by way of taking out the screws at the back and sliding the panel back and up.

What to look for specifically is the wire harness fastened to the bottom of the timer securely (the top harness should be black, the bottom white)...I've seen a few vibrate loose or knocked loose on extreme cases, thus preventing the unit from spinning, i.e.

11_6_2011_7_32_03_pm.jpg

If loose, push it all the way in until it cannot be pulled out with a slight tug ( there are clasp's on the connector as well as the individual wires within it )

If these things can be ruled out, then it is quite likely the door switch (95% of the time), so here's how to change/access the latch assembly...There should be a tech sheet underneath the tub assembly behind the access panel for test procedure of the switch.

**The door latch is likely the single most common fault (which prevent's any spin, and consequently drenching wet clothing at the end of the cycle) with the frigidaire/electrolux built washer's, ASIDE FROM PUMPS BEING OBSTRUCTED.**

You should be able to purchase a door latch assembly at most local brick & mortar stores or on-line part's depot's such as "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclininc.com" to name a couple. They usually sell as part # WH1010003 (at repairclinic.com ) and are relatively easy to replace.

As for replacing said switch, There are a couple ways to access it, through the top and squeezing your arm down the front or the way I prefer, remove the front bellows spring/retainer.

1) **UNPLUG THE WASHER FROM THE WALL OR TURN OFF THE BREAKER.**

2) Remove the spring, get it started where the spring is located with a small screwdriver. Once you`ve got the spring/retainer off ( it comes off and on pretty easy by hand ) pull the gasket/bellows back away from the cabinet.

3) Undo the two screws holding the switch to the cabinet, pull the switch out ( there is just enough slack in the withe final spin cycle would not come on - 46e20c7.jpgt pull too hard ) and swathe final spin cycle would not come on - 95f0559.jpg from the old assembly to the new one and you`re in business.

46e20c7.jpg
95f0559.jpg

4) To put it back together, just reverse the removal procedure. The trickiest part is the retainer. Rap the retainer around the boot leaving the spring for the last...and make sure the spring is located at the 6 o`clock position...usually. Just wherever it was initially.

Let me know if you need further assistance going forward or if my instructions are not clear.

Thank's again for visiting FixYa today. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Correction on that part number for the latch, it should be WH10X10003.

Also if your latch is the older solenoid type latch, this will include an entire modification kit, this may require a professional, but that's your call.

Drum knock when spin cycle

Hello.
Noises are common when using a two-in-one washer and dryer, as clicking or whirring is part of the cleaning process during the transition to the next cleaning process. The GE Spacesaver washer and dryer combo uses a top-loading washer stacked beneath the front-loading dryer, and uses an agitator that makes noises throughout the spin cycle. Although whirring or clicking is normal, other noises or malfunction indicates a problem with the washer that requires minor troubleshooting. Professional repair is necessary if the washer continues to experience problems during the spin cycle, as there may be a problem with the washer's agitator.
1 Open the washer's door and check the balance of the load's clothes. Clothes that are unevenly distributed around the agitator cause excessive shaking and result in an imbalance during the spin cycle. Reduce the load's size by removing clothing if the washer's drum is overloaded.
2 Push "Start/Pause" to pause the spin cycle and turn the washer's cycle knob to the "Off" position. Turn the knob to "Spin Only" and press "Start/Pause" to reset the cycle.
3 Turn the wrench counterclockwise or clockwise around the unit's legs to adjust the appliance's balance. The legs are adjustable with the help of a wrench to ensure the unit does not shake while in use. An unleveled unit shakes as it spins, and causes excessive squealing or rattling as it attempts to dry the clothes.
4 Touch "Start/Pause" on the front of the washer's control panel and unplug the washer/dryer unit's power cord from the electric oultlet. Wait two minutes and plug the power cord back into the electric outlet. Push "Start/Pause" to resume the spin cycle.
Thanks.

I have a LG WM1814CW front load washer. I get UE when it trys to go on spin cycle. I re-arranged the load and still comes up UE. I also tried a cycle without anything in the washer and still the same...

The UE error code is nothing to worry about. It indicates an "unbalanced error"¬-your washer's way of saying that the drum is not spinning is a smooth rotation. It could be as simple as rearranging the load in the drum (click image for zoom). Here's why:

1) Small loads. Your washer operates better when the weight of the load is evenly distributed across the drum, but that is not always possible with small loads.
2) Mixed fabric loads. For example, if you're washing jeans and t-shirts, the jeans could be on one side and the t-shirts on the other, causing the unbalance. Try rearranging the items and spin again.
3) Large single items. Items like sheets, blankets and comforters tend not to spread out evenly, causing unbalance when the drum spins. Rearrange the item and start the spin cycle over.
4) Spin Sense Option. If your washer has the Spin Sense Option, it may try to adjust the load on its own. If that happens, the washer would slow down and tumble a few times slowly during the spin cycle and then speed up until the problem is resolved.

Hope this helps.

1720 Dell Laser printer Photoconductor Problem

I finally figured it out (with Dell Tech Support's help)! When you replace the drum, you MUST reset the counter as well. All you have to do is:

1) Turn off the power using the switch on the back of the printer. Open the front door of the printer.

2) Hold Continue button down, power on the printer, and continue to holding Continue down until the LEDs begin to flash. When the LEDs start to flash, release Continue button. The LEDs will continue flashing until only Error LED will be lit.

3) Close the front door. Continue, Ready/Data, Toner Low and Load Paper LEDs should be lit.

4) Wait till the printer completes the POST process. POST is complete when fan noise and rollers stops. After POST wait for 5 seconds

5) Press Cancel button 4 times slowly until the Toner Low LED is lit. This is the procedure resetting the counter.

6) Press and hold Continue until all LEDs begin to cycle in sequence, then release Continue. Now only the Toner Low LED will be lit.

7) Cycle the power of the printer (turn it off and then back on).

GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!!!
