I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble.
I would be able to provide few steps to resolve this problem. You could revert with the result so that we could proceed further.
Please disconnect the printer and then restart the computer. Follow the below steps :
You have to remove previously installed printer, it have to be in:
Control Panel -> Printers, there you have your HP Officejet 6500, right-click and delete it.
Then
there (control panel -> printers) on white background (not on fax or
other icon) right-click anywhere and you will get a menu with "Server
Properties" . When windows is opened go to "Drivers" tab, select HP
Officejet 6500 and "Remove" it and "Remove driver and driver package"
Then go to desktop and click on icon "Add a device" to complete installation
There were few patches introduced by HP for the same.However, kindly post the result once you follow the above instructions.
