How do i check the

One of two ways. If the status monitor (in the lower right-hand corner of the screen) is open, double click it and it should display the ink status in that window. If the status monitor is not open, open your printer folder, right-click on the printer icon and select properties. Then in the next window, select the Maintainence tab and select "start status monitor" at the bottom. This will start the status monitor and display the ink levels. Ink levels displayed are only estimates though, as there are no sensors in this model. You should use the cartridges until you see print defects, in order to get your money's worth out of them.

I have a new canon

What you can do here first to correct the problem is to disconnect and reconnect your printer to your computer's US port and if possible connect the computer to a different US port and then if your computer is a desktop connect the printer to the back USB port and then restart the computer.

If still not working clear first any print queue on your printer properties , then after doing that try to print again.

Canon pixma MP480 printer error code B200. What is B200?

Try keeping the paper only in the bottom tray (there's a tray in the bottom) Try pulling any paper out of the top and just close that top tray. Open up the head so that u can see the ink cartridges and turn the printer on and off and maybe it will center itself again. If it's still not working (even if lights aren't red and print head wont align in the center) try manually moving the head back and forth like 18 times so you can lubricate that rail in the back that's holding it. After that, re-turn it off and on again.

I installed new ink cartridge and the printer does

This sounds like a defective cartridge. If the printer cannot recognize the cartridge via the electronic chip on the cartridge you will get this error. Before you take the cartridge back to the vendor for an exchange, check to make sure that the packaging has been completely removed and the chip is in place on the underside of the cartridge.

Why won't my canon printer MP460 read my ink

Hi, are you using Canon or refilled cartridges? If you are using Canon, there's a problem with the cartridge. If you are using refilled cartridges it's because the cartridge has been used. When you first put a Canon cartridge in, the printer reads the cartridge and knows it's a new one, I'm not sure of the mechanics of it, I don't know if it blows a chip or fuse in the cartridge but it can read a new one. If it's been used, it can't read it so you get the message that it can't read it.
Turn off the staus monitor and the message will go and you can carry on printing, it won't tell you when the cartridges are empty, you'll just notice the print quality going downhill.

I have a canon mp460 pixma printer that

Hi,

To fix this kind of error, remove the ink cartridge and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it.Check if anything comes out.If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of card stock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there. Open up the printer and clean the insides with a soft cloth and a brush. That should remove all the bits of paper inside. The teeth on the roller sides may have some dirt stuck on them which does not allow the rollers to roll freely and hence is as bad as paper jam. The idea is that the rollers do not roll whether because of paper or some dirt on the roller teeth. They have to be cleaned.
Thank you !!

I would check your cartridge insert were the cartridge sits and make sure that its not dirty or something is interfering with the color cartridge.

Canon MP460 will not recognize its own brand ink

Try removing the installation of your printer then install it back again. If you do not have the drivers, you can find them on Canon's site.

Hope that will help!

The printer shows error code 5100 I think it has

Hi You can Try 2 things.

ERROR 5100 means that there is some foreign object blocking your cartridges carriage that disables it from moving. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there

Next try.

It may be a piece of paper or a scotch tape or a staple wire.
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

Good Luck.
