I'm trying to scan a document into Adobe PDF.

All you need to do is use the MP Navigator. With that up and running you simply scan all the images then choose the save as PDF option. You only need the Adobe on your system to read the file, not to create it.
The Navigator will allow you to create and correct the images into a multi page PDF. It should be on the instalation CD if you have not loaded up Navigator.

I have a Canon MP460 printer and its telling me

U must be using PG40, CL41...

Well.... if you put brand new one, (not the compatible one) and see the same problem... that's something needs to be cared of by A/S center.

However, if you put in the compatible or refilled cartridge (anther one), still u will c the same e5 error.

E5 errror is something can't be solved....

When I turn the machine

Error [5010] may appear after the printer is powered on or when attempting to make a copy or scan. This can happen if an IC on main board of the printer is either malfunctioning or has corrupt data in it.

To confirm if this is due to corrupt data, try clearing the memory by resetting it.

1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again. (or plug back in)

3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

Then see if you still get same error.

It seems to be a problem with your print head. Try to clean the head if it's not a paper jam. See the error codes and the explanations here: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/us/us/en/faq/faq/000000/000100/000068/faq000168_003.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc240c_all

New black ink cartridge is fading in and out and

Yes, you need to run the print maintenance like print nozzle and print alignment page to check to clean the print head and to check if it prints fine.

If still not working, remove the ink cartridge and rub it into the plain paper with alcohol. Let ink runs until it flows.

Please let me know if you need more help and please rate this solution if you find it helpful to you and to others.

What is error 5100 and how to fix?

Hello thanks for using FixYa

Error 5100 means that the cartridge can not be detected by the printer.
Actually the printer is not actually loading the cartridge and showing you the error 5100.

To solve these follow the following steps. I hope it works
  • Turn off printer
  • Remove both the cartridges from the printer
  • Use a clothe moistened with alcohol to clean the surface contact on the cartridges where the terminals inside the printers touches
  • Return the cartridges
  • Turn on the printer.
Error will be removed

I hope this solution will also helpful for you

Black Ink won't print on my Cannon ip90 Printer

You may need to install a new print head. it is very easy to do yourself (basically the same steps you used to install it when you bought the printer- you can also find step-by-step instructions with pictures on cannons support website http://www.usa.canon.com/opd/controller?act=OPDSupportDropDownAct) What has probably happened is that dried ink has accumulated on the print head and clogged it. the "clean print head" option on the printer is a maintenance function that should be performed regulary to prevent a clog; it is not effective at clearing an already clogged print head.

I'm trying to print wedding

Sounds like the ink isn't having time to dry and is rubbing along paper.

Paper may be too thick. If it prints OK on normal paper (test first) but not on thick card, then it doesn't support thick paper settings.
