The lockout code is generated by your Phone's serial number and is meant to keep you from putting your own sim cards in. So I would put the original SIM card in.
When you get locked out from bad PIN inputs and are asked for the PUK code, you get REALLY locked out if you get that one wrong. At which point your best option is to call your carrier for the PUK2 code so they can help you unlock your phone.
The alternatives are illegal and I can't post them.

You may have to take apart the palm to get it open and make sure its not wet, windex works on lcd screens, not on lcd touchscreen, where the top part is plastic or something to that direction. Just drying up the palm might solve the problem, you migh need to use a heat gun or put the whole thing (taken apart) into a airtight container and fill it with rise, and leave it for a day or two, this will absorb the muisture and any water that remains.
if the problem remains after that follow my instructions that I've posted earlier:
First things to try is a normal reset and then a hard reset.
To do a normal reset, press on the reset button on your handheld.
Hard reset is performed differently on different models, check palm website for hard reset instructions:CLICK HERE FOR PALM RESET INFO PAGE
if the touchscreen doesn't work at all, and you can't align or calibrate it, or it presses on wrong spots even after calibrating many times, digitizer (which is the touch part on top of the lcd display) is most likely broken and would need to be replaced. On rare cases reattaching digitizer cable and making sure that the digitizer is clean and intact and properly on its position may solve the issue.
you have 3 options.
- Replace digitizer yourself, you can find a replacement from ebay.
- Send it to palm for out of warranty repairs, probably around 100usd.
- Take it to a local professional who can replace digitizer for you.
Note: In some phones the digitizer may be connected into the lcd in away that it can't be easily replaced. In these cases You will have to replace the whole screen. if the touch is non responsive after the replacement, the issue could be with the connector or then you have a faulty main board.

My XP computer was re-formated
Sorry about that, but i will begine by asking this question. hand you moved a backup copy of your palm from "C:\Program Files\Palm\<username>\ED\Backup\ ..." before you formated your computer?. because now, HotSync will compare the two devices. When it sees that the PDA is empty, it will attempt to reload any backup that exists on the PC. Once this data is reloaded, the PDA will ask to do a soft reset. This is simply a restart of the device and doesn't affect any of the newly installed data. This then returns the PDA to working order, with all the data and programs functioning as they were before. did you use a password during backup?

take the protector off and do a reset. Also make sure you don;t have any crud around the 5 way that is tyring to move things. The protector can be slighlty too big and cause this. It may look like it fits perfectly but causes this.

make sure that the updates for the calendar or apointments are set the right way. You may find that it is set to let the palm overwrite the desktop and it should be the other way or to syncronyze both so they show the same thing. If the program doesn;t show this setting check on the hotsync icon (right click on it whe its running) and check the settings.

Hi gemini781,
This 'Target' mark is used for calibrating your device screen according to your hand touch pattern. This will be prompted whenever your device restarts back after full battery discharge. Due to screen misalignment, even if you continuously tap your screen, it may not accept. So try touching slightly at different point near to the target displayed and try few attempts. you may get your screened configured.
If still your problem not solved, then so for a soft reset of your device( Use the reset hole provided anywhere in your device). Then you can realign your screen calibration again when prompted.
take a look at this following link which may be useful to you to avoid such problem in future.

I hope this is useful to you
Thanks

Hi,
If you are sure that the Battery is fine and it is Charging, you could try to Pull out the Battery for few minutes, say 30 minutes and then put it back.If that works, perfect unless you have a Faulty Touchscreen or Corrupted Firmware.
Touch Screen do gets out of Order from time to time. The average life of Touch Screen is couple of Years. I am not sure, how long you have used this before putting this in Drawer but seems a more probability for Touch Screen.
Regarding Firmware, you need to update the Firmware. When you attach the Device to the Computer, you could try to find the Updated Firmware, which could be a difficult task, as most manufacturer's do not offer that directly to Consumer's.Still worth a shot.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My z22 has gone dead
The charger output voltage must be 3.7 to 4 volts..
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderate
Things You’ll Need:
* Star-bit screwdriver
* New z22 battery
- Pull down on the back cover of your Palm Z22, and remove the
cover from the device.there is a trick to it. The little translucent
bezel surrounding the USB connector can be snapped out, revealing two
T-5 (Torx) screws. Remove the bezel and the two screws and the other
three sides will separate with some gentle prying as you have already
discovered.
- The best way to remove the bezel seems to be to slip
a knife (or a thin fingernail) into the joint closest to the display.
It's a tight fit but you don't have to separate it very far to get it
to pop out.
- The battery is not "user replaceable" - i.e. it is
soldered in place, but you can buy one online if you're prepared to do
the solder work.
- Loosen and remove the screws from the Z22's casing using a star-bit screwdriver.
- If
there are tabs present on the circuit board, you will need to stop
immediately. Consult with a technician about removing the tabs.
- Find the battery. Move it out of the case so you can have better access to the power supply lead.
- Pull the power supply lead from the battery. Grasp the base of the plug firmly and disconnect in one smooth motion.
- Remove the old battery from the case and insert the new battery into the same position and with the same orientation.
- Replace the rear cover on the Z22 and charge the new battery for at least four hours before use.
Tips & Warnings
- Use firm steady pressure to open the case. Sharp blows and delicate electronics do not mix.
-
A star-bit screwdriver is not the same as a Phillips screwdriver. The
star-bit has a six-flanged head which looks a little like an asterisk
when viewed head-on.
- If your battery has a blue casing on it, do not attempt to change the battery.
