Can't sync. When I

Hello,

you are facing this problem basically because you don't have the software driver for your palm. Or if you have the software, its not the complete software.

Go to the below link, and download all the driver software for your palm z22. Once this is done, the problem should be solved.

Good luck.

No hot sync. No stylus response. No editing

Hi,

Your firmware is corrupted just update it and take the battery out and place it again. If still you can't do it you have to flash your mobile. That is installing the new fresh firmware again. You need RCA cable for this do be done.

I don't prefer my customers to do flashing the mobile at home,Because while doing when you make mistake the phone is useless.so take it to nearest service center it will cost 10$-20$

My Palm Z22 suddenly stopped taking input from the screen or buttons. I have hit the reset on the back several times toI had the same problem and tried several of the solutions here, from cleaning around the edges of the screen, to soft and hard resets. They worked for a time, but eventually, the pointer didn't register at all. Before you throw out your unit, look on Ebay for the replacement digitizer. There are or were many when I looked, ranging from about $8 to considerably more. None of the low cost ones came with instructions, but did come with tools. Higher priced offerings were for having them replace the digitizer for you. I ordered the low priced one and figured I could figure it out. The tools they send are two tiny screw drivers with special tips and a small plastic device to pry the sections apart. If you want to do it yourself, I will be happy to explain what I did. Remember to be really gentle when you do every step. First use the pry tool on the place where the cord plugs in to connect the device to the usb slot on your computer. It is tight, but gently pry out the small black rectangle. You will see two tiny screws inside. Remove those, carefully with one of the screwdrivers that come with the digitizer and set them someplace save. These two screws or bolts have nuts, that you can't really see until the next step. Watch for them if they fall out. The next step is to use the pry tool around the edges of the white plastic face of the Z22 and separate it from the back. I would lay it on the back while you do this. There is a small u-shaped piece that is part of the reset button and it fits on a peg on the back part of the device. Carefully ease the front and back apart. There are 4 small screws that still need to be removed. Save them to replace when done. Remove the innards of the device, but Don't totally separate the sections. There are foil connectors that attach the parts and they need to be intact. Gently ease the digitizer from the white plastic face. It will have another white plastic box on it's back side. Use the pry device to separate the glass digitizer from that white box. You will see there is a gold striped foil connector on your new digitizer, about midway up the side of the device. Find the one that is connected to the old digitizer and ease it out of the slot. Remove the old digitizer. Slide the new connector into the slot. Position the new glass digitizer correctly over the white plastic box and place the innards face down into the white face of the Z22. Replace the 4 screws. Gently close the case, laying the front onto the back, so you don't displace the reset button part. Snap together and replace the two tiny screws into the section near the power cord connector. (Hopefully you didn't drop the little nuts out, during the process. If you did, you may have to back track until you can see the small white boxes that they slip into, in that location. Email me if you have problems with this. It sounds a lot worse than it was. When I finished, I was really disappointed, because it didn't turn on, the whole screen was black, which was worse than when I started. But, after I plugged it in, and let it charge about 3 hours, it worked perfectly! I am so excited! You can do this if you are patient and gentle....

Can't sync my palm z22 to my computer

I had this problem recently and once I checked all of my settings, and adjusted a couple, it worked fine. To do that, on the desktop computer, open Palm Desktop and go to HotSync and then, under that is Setup. When the set up window opens, click on connections and be sure the type of connection you use is selected. In my case, I use the USB cable. Close that window. On the handheld, click on the hotsync image and be sure the connection method matches what you set up. Local or modem are your choices. My selection is local. Go to Preferences on the handheld and select Communication. Select connection and a window opens. From that list, I selected cradle/cable. Hopefully that will work for you. Try doing a hotsync at that point, and see if the problem is fixed. Mine was.

I have a palm z22 Pda the tochksrceen is no working

There are several answers listed in Fixya under Z22 and touchpad or touch screen. You can start by trying to clean under the edges of the face frame with a credit card or something similar. If that doesn't work, try a soft reset by pushing the reset button on the back of the device. If that doesn't work, you can do a hard reset, but it loses all the data in the device. If you have it stored on your desktop calendar, this might solve the problem. To do a hard reset, check this site for instructions. http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/42094_en.html

If those steps don't work, you may need to replace the digitizer. You can pay someone to do it, or you can buy the part on ebay for about $12. Get one that comes with the tools you will need. Unfortunately, they don't come with instructions. I have posted the instructions in several places on Fixya. If you can't find them, write again. Hopefully the easier steps will do the trick.

If you partially opened the case, you may have had the restart button piece shift out of place. You need the tools that come with the new digitizer, or a very delicate tool to pry out the rectangle, around the power cord connection, and remove two tiny screws, before you can separate the front and back. The tool they send to do that is sort of soft plastic, tiny spatula shaped piece which can squeeze into the grooves and gently separate that piece and the front from the back.

Broken screen

The problem could be the touchscreen but, typically, with the Z22 it's more of a configuration problem. I would recommend doing a "hard reset" after syncronizing. To reset the unit to factory specs hold in the reset (in the back) and the power button simultaneously for, at least, five seconds. Instead of the Palm icon you'll see a prompt to push up on the touchpad to reset to factory defaults. Then, go through the entire setup process, including the Digitizer to initialize and calibrate the touchpad. Hopefully, that should restore the touchpad. Otherwise, well, replacing that thing yourself is NOT easy.

You can find replacements easily on eBay.

Hello.

For 64-bit editions of Windows, USB HotSync is not supported. Instead, synchronize through a Bluetooth wireless connection.

Hope this helps.

The touch screen doesnt respond

Hello,

Have you tried a reset? How about a hard reset?

To do a normal reset, press on the reset button on your handheld.

Hard reset is performed differently on different models, check palm website for hard reset instructions: http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,kb=PalmSupportKB,t=ooccase,case=obj%28887%29

if the touchscreen doesn't work at all, and you can't align or calibrate it, or it presses on wrong spots even after calibrating many times, the digitizer (which is the touch part on top of the lcd display) is most likely broken and would need to be replaced. On rare cases reattaching the digitizer cable and making sure that the digitizer is clean may solve the issue.

If you are inside warranty the repair may be completely free, contact your dealer or palm.

Outside of warranty, you have 3 options.

1. Replace the digitizer yourself, you can find a replacement from ebay for pretty cheap.

2. Send it to palm for out of warranty repairs, probably around 100usd.

3. Take it to a local professional who can replace the digitizer for you.

Thanks, let me know if you have any questions and good luck.

Hi,the keypad works fine right?. the touch screen is not connected to the light displaying on the screen.
The touch screen of the palm z22 hand held is not function properly it needs to be replaced.

If it fell down, or hit an object it might also cause the touch screen not to function properly. You can unscrew it an check if it has shifted from the right position.
But if you can not do that, you will need to contact a skilled personnel for assistance.

Good luck.

How do I reset my palm z22 to factory settings?

If you've set a password on your handheld, any hard reset will automatically become a Factory Reset. With this method, you'll enter a password and then perform a hard reset.

  1. On your handheld, launch the Prefs application. Under General, select Security.
  2. If the Password box says "Unassigned," tap the box and create a password for your handheld.
  3. Once the password has been set, remove the stylus. Disconnect your handheld from the AC charger, if connected.
  4. On your handheld, hold down the Power button.
  5. While holding down the Power button, use the stylus to press the RESET button on the back of your handheld.
  6. While still holding Power button, the screen will show the Palm logo and a progress bar. Then the circular Palm Powered logo will appear. Release the power button when you see the Palm Powered logo.
887_palmlogo_progressbar.gif spacer.gif 887_poweredcircle.gif Keep holding the Power button during this screen. spacer.gif When you see this screen, you can release the Power button.
  7. A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your smartphone. Press UP.
  8. You'll see a series of Palm logo screens, then a prompt to tap onscreen targets. The Factory Reset is complete.

IN TRYING HOT SINC ,

You will not be able to restore your data if you haven't backed it up. The memory on the Palm is volatile and there is not such thing as an "undelete". So what you will need to do is restore the OS and reload your applications. If you have a backup, you can restore it after.

  1. Press and hold the Power (on/off) button on the front panel of your device.
  2. While holding Power, use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus. Gently press and release the RESET button inside the hole on the back panel of your device (where's the reset hole?).
  3. If you see a progress bar (see below), keep holding the Power button.
  4. Next, the Palm Powered screen will appear. Release the Power button when you see it.
  5. You'll see a screen that asks: Erase all data? YES = "up" button NO = any other button. Press UP on your 5-way navigator to complete the hard reset.
