I have a palm z22 (purchased used). It has a blank

Hi, erieser, If your new ( used) Z22 has a name "missy", then it is NOT A "BLANK", as you state! You need to do a complete "factory Reset" After the COMPLETE factory reset, you then start the Z22 and name it Absolutely identical to your computer's Z22 name, and then try again to connect. I am surprised that fixya.com did not direct you to my 32 other Z22 answers, which cover your question. You can read about your answer and other tips and maintenance procedures at http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html good luck robin dusty graves

How can I transfer the data from Z222 to window7

Hello de nicola: I have an entire page devoted just to the Palm Z22, listed below. Many people report issues with trying to connect the Palm Z22 to new 64 BIT Operating systems like Windows 7 and Windows 8, and although somewhat obscure and time-consuming to set up, this can be done. ONE known software company has a 64 BIT driver, which, when used with other software, can get the SYNC functions working again. Another method is to put a VIRTUAL Windows XP on the Windows 64 BIT Systems, and then SYNC using the already working WIndows XP to get the data from files on the "new" 64 Bit Systems, and back... I also deal with battery problems, touch screen problems, maintenance, repair, and upkeep issues, so that you may find the page of value! It is at: http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html I hope this gets your Palm Z22 up and running again, and keeps it that way... good luck robin dusty graves Z22 PALM PILOT transfer-data-from-z222-window7-cdqazwk5fkdpm30unkbxcrm5-3-0.jpg transfer-data-from-z222-window7-cdqazwk5fkdpm30unkbxcrm5-3-1.jpg transfer-data-from-z222-window7-cdqazwk5fkdpm30unkbxcrm5-3-3.jpg

The tapping feature on my handhell zire 22 does

Hi rick: There are 3 main problems with the "AGING" Palm Z22, and one of the most common is the failing touch screen. Lucky for you, there are a number of ways of dealing with this, from a temporary fix (emergency) of Freezing the unit, to Heating the screen, to ripping it apart ( no, I am not kidding!), to simply replacing the screen for $9 U.S., (free shipping from Hong Kong).... http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html If you are experiencing touchscreen issues, then you are going to be having BATTERY problems as well, so the information on these, and other issues will help you to get up and running, and stay that way... Palm z22 touch screen not responding touchscreen

The Z22 palm PDA is subjected to 3 points of failure. I got a used Z22 and discovered all 3 over the course of a few years. The touchscreen digitizer on the front is a plastic sheet on the top, and a glass screen on the bottom. Invisible layers of conductive paint are facing each other. Simply carrying the Z22 in your pocket, purse, briefcase, or even storing it in a drawer with pencils, staplers, rulers, etc., will, over time, deform the screen, and the damage is cumulative, so that the screen gets worse and worse. It is imperative to have a solid sheet of plastic or hard material over the screen at all times that you are not using it. Leaving the Z22 in direct hot sunlight will heat up and soften the screen, making the problem worse. Carrying the Z22 screen in your pocket on a hot day when you are sweating, will do the same. People report that the Z22 will work in a cool place like North New York, but the screen will quit, when they travel to Florida (hot). I have temporarily fixed the touchscreen by putting it in a ziplock, and sticking it in the freezer to shrink the top layer of plastic. That only worked twice. Then I use a hair dryer to heat the screen VERY hot, to shrink the screen - which worked very well, until I put it in a soft zippered camera case, which gently pushed the screen. Then I took the screen apart completely ( which no one has ever reported doing) and this worked amazingly well, -again- until I put it in a soft case that pushed the screen against the glass backing. I eventually replaced the touchscreen ($10 free shipping from China). All the information is on my tiny website at http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html The Z22 is incredibly well designed, and after ripping it apart a dozen times, and carrying it around under extreme heat and freezing cold, I would have to give the original design team at PALM, 5 stars. Your data, on the device, even though the screen may be dead, is very safe, and unless you do a HARD RESET, the data is stored on permanent memory. I had problems with a weak and dying battery, which ALL Z22s are now experiencing, since the decades of time, even with a "new" in the box, sealed Z22 will have. Low glitches of power on the battery seem to cause the BlackScreen of Death, where the LOGIC circuits that control the ON/OFF/SLEEP etc. functions get out of sync, and the unit will not charge or turn on until ALL power is removed ( typically, after a few weeks the battery drains to dead ). All these problems are discussed and solutions posted, with photos on my website. Also are discussions on what to do with the Z22, where to get parts, how to maintain the Z22, and how to get data off the device onto the new 64 bit WINDOWS computers... Good luck. The Z22 was an amazing device in its day, and people report that there were a few software programs for it that have never been made since - hence, they still use it... robindustygraves Sept 2014 Z22 PALM PILOT a75f3784-08d5-4a1b-85ae-67e479181e27.jpg b2146887-a4b6-43a4-931b-b0f3438348ac.jpg 12202c43-26c3-47df-a31f-bc94507b7482.jpg fc737f81-6cb4-492d-b006-199c695a4776.jpg

Can not advance contact list

Ok well all i can suggest is that the Palm does have a repair option for itself. If you go to Tools-->Options-->Tools and click on the check now it will look for and fix any corrupted records. I do suggest that you make a backup of your Username so if anything happens you have that to recover from.
If that doesn't work, then you may have a real problem, try a turn OFF/ON or maybe even a "Factory Rest" however make sure you backup completely so you can restore after wards or you will loose everything...
