You should not have to reset anything. When you put in the cartridge and snap it into place, it should automatically reset. If it did not, make sure you removed the plastic and that the cartridge is snapped into place and the red light is on. If you're still having problems, let me know.

Hi, I get this type of thing quite often in my shop, usually what happens is that the power supply is damaged by the event, it really doesn't matter how good of a protection setup one has, it still happens...
Often PSU replacement, or repair, will fix the issue, but sometimes the power spike goes deeper and affects the motherboard electronics, only testing will reveal whats wrong.
You will need to obtain a service manual if you wish to DIY, otherwise get it looked at by a professional, and get a "Quote" first before allowing any repairs to be undertaken.

For front or front tray loading printers, shiny side down... for rear/back loading printers.., shiny side up. Pictures should be visible coming out of the exit slot. Using pre-cut photo paper requires some technique, if the paper holder does not have an adjustable paper width feature. Feed paper in one sheet at a time to prevent jambs.

Don't buy Canon as they absolutely ROB you for the ink!! They are worse than ****** dealers! At least HP allows you to use non (rip-off) OEM cartridges without all the hassle! My printer will be thrown out after the ink runs out as I will not be ripped-off by Canon again!

You have an error with the temperature of your cartridge, try another new cartridge

What about the normal 80g office paper? If also bends and jams in the printer, I think it is a mechanical problem. Check the paper path for foreign objects. It is very easy for common office objects to fall there. Also they are not vizible when fallen in the printer. Try to turn the printer upside down to let the object to fall out. Help it with some flat scredriver to release the paper pressure shafts which springs may hold the object inside
