Canon Pixma MG5220 InkJet Printer Questions & Answers
Why won't it print with black ink?
Hi Michael,
Can you check the printer properties whether it shows up the new ink level ? I would like to have more info to help you further
Thanks
Seb
Could an aftermarket ink cause a malfunction in a MG5220
No. Aftermarket ink should cause no actual problems with your printer. The printer may not sense that the ink cartridge is full, but that's a minor thing to put up with considering the ink savings. Also, aftermarket ink DOES NOT void factory warrenties.
Printer turned off and does not turn on again
Are you plugging directly into the wall or a power strip? Can you plug something else into that exact port to verify that it's still getting power at that spot? If it is I would still attempt to plug it into another port to see if that helps. I know it sounds silly but this is the simplest place to start.
Do you have a voltmeter? I would check the output of the power supply itself to make sure the correct amps and voltage are still coming out of it.
HOW TO CHANGE INK CARTRDES IN CANON MG5220
The is covered completely in the Owners Manual. I suggest you download the manual from the Canon support website to have as a reference in the future.Steps:1. Open the front paper tray door.2. Lift the entire top of the printer until it is as high as it will go and locks the brace in place. The ink cartridge carriage will move to the center of the printer. The cartridge needing changing will have a light blinking to indicate it.3. Push in the back tab on the cartridge and lift it out.4. Remove the new cartridge (be sure it\'s the right color) from the packaging, remove the plastic clip that protects the ink feed aperature.5. Push the cartridge into the slit in the carriage and press down on the end closest to you to lock the tab in place.6. Lift up on the printer top and push the bottom of the brace away from you to unlock it and then lower the lid. 7. the printer will then go through several cycles to realign the cartridges and verify the new one is feeding properly.8. If more than one cartridge goes dry at the same time, repeat steps 3-5 for all cartridges before lowering the lid.Good luck!
