Screen on laptop is smashed do i have to replace

The short answer is yes. A different screen will not likely fit on your laptop. A hardware maintenance manual generally found on your manufacturer's website should give you detailed instructions on how to replace your specific screen after acquiring another.

However, you may also be able to get away with just connecting an external monitor to your laptop if you prefer, this will definitely be a cheaper option, especially if you have an extra lying around. You may need a DVI to VGA adapter depending on connections available. Once plugged in, most laptops have a function key (near the top of your keyboard) with a monitor icon, or something short similar to CRT, LCD, etc. Hold down your fn key, and press this button. Wait a few seconds for it to kick in, and voila. You may have to press this several times to fully cycle through the modes available.

My E4252 shuts down on boot-up> I have tried

It is not the motherboard that is cooked it is the processor overheating to correct this problem you need to do the following

Remove the Heatsink from the CPU and re apply heatsink compound to both the CPU and the heatsink then replace the heatsink onto the CPU. the reason for the overheating and shutdown is that the connection between the heatsink and the CPU has become "Aged" and no longer transfers the heat like it should

I have a emachines t2984 i press the power button

Ok, test the power button pins. First disconnect any power source to the computer. Then, find the power pins on your motherboard (the one that your case's power button connects to. Usually two wires, one red and the other black). Grab a jumper a connect it to those two pins, they usually have the letters "pwr" or "power" printed next to them. Then, once you've done this, with the jumper connected, connect the power cord to your power supply. It should turn on by it self. If it does, then the problem is the power button. If it does not do it, then the problem is the motherboard. Good luck.

How conect hddled cable, powersw cable and h.d.d.emachines t6209

There should be a brand and model number on the motherboard. If you can find this information you should be able to look up the manufacture of the motherboard. Once you have that information go to the manufactures website and then look up the model number. You will then try to find any documentation on the motherboard. It will more then likely come in the form a specs sheet information. Which will probably be a PDF file. Down load it and with in the PDF file you should be able see a diagram on how to connect the wires to the motherboard.

Hope this helps you out and best of luck!

Expansion slota

eMachines Support > ET1331 desktop computer > Product Views > Rear View,

http://support.gateway.com/emachines/desktop/2009/emachines/et/ET1831/ET1831rv.shtml

The metal covers that have the Plus sign ( + ) holes, are Expansion Slot Covers.

Insert a flat tipped screwdriver blade in the + sign hole.
Insert the screwdriver blade horizontally, in the + sign hole, on the right side. ( ---- , not vertical I )

Gently bring the back of the screwdriver down.
This will make the metal slot cover, bend the small metal tab that is holding it.

Go to the + sign hole on the Left side. Do the same on the Left side as the above.

Bring the back of the screwdriver up.

Keep working the metal expansion slot cover back, and forth, until the two small metal tabs that are holding it in, break.

Remove the metal expansion slot cover.

Before you begin, ensure that the expansion slot cover you wish to remove, lines up with the wireless adapter card.

Have any questions concerning this, post in a Comment.

To remove motherboard

To remove the motherboard you need to remove power from the back, lay the computer on it's side, wear an anti-ESD wrist strap, remove the left side cover (looking from back of computer). Mark and record all connections (a video helps while you disassemble). Pull all connectors off by grabbing connector NOT wires. Some have locks. Remove all adapter cards (little circuit boards plugged in motherboard). Remove RAM by pushing on locks on each end. Remove the CPU fan and heat sink but PULL UPP CAREFULLY in case CPU stays attached. If cpu is still in socket, carefully lift locking lever and lift cpu straight up. Remove all screws. Board will need to slide forward slightly to get out of case. Take old board to store to make of proper replacement and take cpu also. Both should be in anti-static bags but DO NOT use ziplock bags. Install in reverse BUT cpu should fall into socket WITHOUT pushing, it has one corner of pins different from others. Make sure that you have wrist ******** at all times working inside the tower. Respond for further details if needed.
Good luck!
