Look at the model number on the Creative sound card. You want to match up the correct drivers.
Once you find it go to Creative Worldwide Support,
http://support.creative.com/A) Click on the SoundBlaster icon.
B) Click on the soundcard icon that matches yours. I'm going to click on the X-Fi Xtreme Audio icon to use for an example.
Here on the next page we see we are presented with two driver choices.
1) Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio driver 1.04.0090
and,
2) Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio pack 1.04.0079
The 1.04.0090 audio driver is for Vista, and Windows 7.
It also contains the Creative Audio console.
Click on Show Details to the right for more information.
The 1.04.0079 audio pack is for Windows XP, and Vista.
It also has the Creative Audio Console.
Click on Show Details to the right for more information.
When you have the applicable choice, click on the red Download.
On the next page read the Creative Software License Agreement, then click on Agree.
A small window will come up. Write down the file name.
For example I am looking at Opening XFXA_PCDRV_LB_1_04_0079
The file name is > XFXA_PCDRV_LB_1_04_0079.exe
This is the file name I will look for.
Click on Save File.
A small window will come up on the left.
Quickly look at the heading of this window.
This is where the file will download to.
Look for My Documents, (Documents for Vista), or Downloads, or Desktop, in the heading.
Close all windows, go back to the desktop screen. See the file name?
NO?
Click on Start > then click on My Documents. (WinXP)
Don't see the file name there?
Look for a folder named Downloads.
Double-click on the Downloads folder name look for the file name.
When you see the file name double-click on it. Follow the easy instructions of the Installation Wizard.
(Essentially just click on Next, Next, and Finish. Then restart your computer.
