Emachines monitor goes black while CPU is still working

This PC was sold new day1, in 2009 (a bad year) and as such had (per your manual) has toxic mercury CCFL background tube lamps at the LCD screen that do just exactly as told so very well. and PC means Personal Computer and CPU means central processing unit, a chip a USA invention ! when the screen is black we use the flashlight test (uk torch , burn free, lol.) point it here. see data the CCFL? yes, are dead and the do fail intermittent or by hot and cold room. or dead or dim or got yellow for white tinged. flash-glow-magic2-undefined-undefined-0_1.jpg the problem is bad hardware and googling finds endless geeks that do not understand hardware at all, or little (i call em bit flippers) Too bad all makers of PC and monitors did not put screen test mode button on the PC, that glows the back lamps in our shop we use HV CCFL tester to find that truth easy. the monitor is bad on the desktop PC if you test the monitor on 2nd PC it fails if you the failing PC with known good monitor the PC passes all test. now you learn 3 simple tests, of vast. but in order based on AGE big clue #2 is monitor newer showed its ERROR NO SIGNAL or NO connection error, so that clue means PC did not die the monitor did. no signal , no connection, no sync, or over-range errors never seen. fans normal. blowing. in PC is clue 3 (and all LED you told too)

Just recently, this problem started. The screen

auto input scan is only allowed in VGA mode the manual even warns you that, and if turned on it goes nuts it is a bug. the menu has a RESET TOO. that should turn that off. or force it to VGA input then turn it off, auto scan inputs not told you what inputs are used. monitors can 1 or 2 or 3 input ports or just one. not told by you, some better maker use suffix codes in the model to tell us ,what input options are there. my guess is old VGA only monitor so turn off auto . and set vga H and Z manually, size and centered. and save it. or buy 10x better LG or Viewsonic monitor and avoid acer/ emachine trash.

Check your display buttons along with the keyboard and mouse, to see if you have any key stuck down, or being pressed. Is there any other devices connected to the emachine that could be causing this behavior?

How can I get the

You may have to replace the screen if you can see things on the screen but have to use a flashlight this would be something I would change out. If you want to go deeper into it plug the monitor into another working computer and see if it works fine if that is the case then you are dealing with a video card issue. Replace the video card and go from there it should work fine from that fix. Thanks for using FixYa! do not forget to vote for me. John

Popup keeps flashing - "processing auto

joking, buy a real computer at best buy?I\'M not sure if it is just? the monitor, (i dont thinks, so or the PC)you can plug the monitor in to another PC to sort that question easy. test the monitor if it is good, great, if not get a new one.good monitor, read on.that is my pet peeve too, pop ups. that don\'t say WHO DID THE POP UP. bad programmers do that, even MS.frustrating it is.... the question is, who is processing.?.... dang"my guess ?is windoz. (or APPS)if it is windows, and not some APP.?then set MS updates to off. see if that makes it stop.if not , then it must be an APP, or Antivirus software running.each APP or A/V can be configured to shut up. It is true.most lap tops or emach, are set up with full nags.,etc.No one ive seen that do this, bad act, can I STAND.!the first thing i do on them, is remove all that junk.I build my own systems. to avoid that. but.... I\'d slick the drive and put on W8 , fresh.but what to do baring , that... idea... let me give an example of my silly HP. net book (all HP puters have this)they all have HP software loaded. (some good, some bad, some ugly)I go in and remove all the HP agents and all nagware, and all HPscanners, and other junk, leaving only legit , full version needed software.I remove office as it is crippleware; as most are. This is not HP only tricks, all other makers,do this junk.after you get all this working, then turn on only, MS critical updatesbut do have it , ask ME , first. option, in control panel.then and only then, can you do work and stop the side tracking.....join a forum for your lap top or emach.do not turn off , HP recovery service or its special partition or support. this takes skill to do all this.the maker of your PC has a forum, ive never seen one that doesnot cover this topic, most have a nice list.(what to kill)we call this bloatware and is hated by all.good luck to you. dont forget, you can barrow a spark monitor and connect it to the emach , to see if it is :windowsApps (A.V)or the monitor.

Volume control

Maybe the problem with your computer is that it does not have sound/ audio drivers. Thptey might have been corrupt by a virus or mistakenly deleted. This is what you need to do. At this point I am assuming that your computer is on and functioning properly. Press Windows Key + R (and type CMD to open the command prompt and then inside command prompt, type the following as it isSYSTEMINFOthen press enter. At this point you will have to look for System Model on the list and write it down, Then go to the internet and download the drivers for *******(the model of your system, the one you just wrote down). Probably you will have alot of sites where you will download the audio drivers for your computer. After that then you can install them into your computer using the Setup.exe found in the file downloaded, and follow the simple instructions. This will fix up your sound
