hi there,
may i know the exact model/maker of your mobo.
Sound card problem
Did you reinstall the sound card physycally on the main board or did you install new drivers?
You need to check the device manager (start-settings-control panel-system-select " hardware" tab at top, then click on device manager)
If you have your sound card listed in its category (sound, video and game controllers) or listed in the "other" category and it has a yellow ! next to it, you must right click on it and hit uninstall. one of those will cause the computer not to even look for the sound card for install because the computer thinks it's already installed , even if its wrong.
so if you see one of these, expand the + to see the device , then right click on it and select uninstall .
then procede to load the new driver. restart
Regards.
Sound Card "This Device Cannot Start"
Hi,
the soundblaster cards, usually have to set an interupt port IRQ.
This can sometimes conflict, with any other device connected i.e printer/paralel port.
I,d suggest, power off the computer. and remove the mains power cable. then completely remove the soundcard.
either try the card, in a different pci slot, if you have a spare.
or reboot the computer, without the card in at all.
shut-down, power off. re-insert the card and re-install.
also check, the on-board sound card is working correctly if applicable. you may have a conflict between the on-board and standalone ( soundblaster Card ) attempting to share the same driver or resources.
Finally check the motherboards jumper settings ( User Manual ) to enable/disable the onboard sound. if necessary.
And check the settings in BIOS.

Will not power on
Hi,
This is a tricky problem. You would be thinking that if green light comes then everything is working fine. But that doesn't satisfy the system. Make the ATX power connector of SMPS(Single Mode Power Supply) is properly plugged in or not. The glowing of green light because of the small power connector (4-pin square connector) beside the processor fan. There is one more power connector i.e., ATX power connector. i guess its 20 pin. plug in properly and then try. If again the same problem occurs then you need to replace the SMPS itself.
Thank you........
Soundcard
try re-installing the drivers but use the drivers from here

no sounds or beeps rules out the hard drive, at this point it's either the power supply, motherboard, or cpu. Have you tried the power supply in a different machine? Also, eyeball the motherboard, specifically the capacitors, look for any that have bulges on the top.

Rebuilding my emachine 2200
Look at the board carefully and find what looks like a model number or brand.
eMachines does not make their own boards (at least didn't) so the info you seek will be available from the board manufacturers website.
Just as a tip though, it is nearly impossible to mis-connect the cables and devices.
Remember, this kind of stuff is being assembled by Chinese (former) farmers any more; it ain't that tough.
