05 Trail Blazer Vortec 4200 center pulley seems to have a bad bearing behind it. Is that a pulley or idler problem or is it a water pump issue?

I have an 05 TB. I have replaced the idler pulley twice in the three years I owned it. Cheap and quick fix. Call your dealer and get the part. Problem is that the part comes with the whole bracket. Take the pulley of the new part and put it on the existing bracket already on your vehicle. 30 minute fix.

Rave4 2008 v6 noise

Sounds like the idler pulley. It is what keeps tension on the surpentine belt. Usually a water pump will start dripping water through a small hole in pump that opens when the bearings go bad and start to wobble. You can spray some lube on idler pulley to see if it quiets it down some thou this is not a permanent fix. It will pinpoint the problem

Fan pulley loose, but four bolts that hold fan on are tight, like something is loose behind pulley on my 2003 chevy trailblazer/vortec 4200

Hi Cro,Seems to me as if you may have a problem with your water pump. If your vehicle is loosing coolant, that will confirm it. With the engine off and the key removed from the ignition open the hood and check for any looseness in the water pump by taking hold of the fan blades and shaking back and forth (If they're plastic be careful not to apply to much force, or you may break them!). If there is play you'll need a replacement pump!Best regards Johngee10

What are the symptoms of a failed harmonic balancer on a oldsmobile 03 bravada smart trak 2wd engine vortec 4200. The fan clutch is really wobbly where it connects to the harmonic balancer pulley

The fan clutch is connected to the water pump. The harmonic balancer is the crank pulley. If the fan clutch/pulley the fan clutch is attached to is sloppy than the water pump is bad.

My 2005 3.8 grandcaravan has a rhythmic growling sound coming from the passenger side of the motor at idle. once moving it isn't heard. seems to just be getting worse and worse over time.

odds are the "growling" noise is a bearing on a pulley going out. Could be anything from altenator, steering pump, water pump, but most likely just an idler pulley. You need a mechanics stethascope to diagnose and then just need to replace the proper pulley.
