The hub is seized into stering knuckle..you can try putting a socket or a small 1/2" drive extension between 1 ear of front axle shaft and axle housing and turning wheels all the way to whatever side you have socket in..this will push hub out of knuckle..try doing this both ways with engine running..keep axle nut on shaft

Removal and installation of the hub and bearing 2002 dodge caravan

This hub bearing is a complete asm, it bolts on and not like some older cars where the bearing and seals are separte and must be pressed in and out with the spindle removed. to replace the bearing hub remove the tire and then remove the brake caliper, this is done by removing the two caliper bolts and then pull off and hang of to the side. next remove the brake rotor the rotr may slide right of or may need to be banged on with a hmmer to break it free, with the rotor off next remove the center axle nut on the cv axle this if in the center front as you look at the front of it, next on the rear you will see four bolts that need to be removed, look at the new hub asm to see the bolt holes to give you an idea on the bolt location, you can see the bolt holes from the front of the hub after removing the bolts you will then use a hammer to bang on the hub to break it free from the sindle, the bearing comes out the front, heres a picture of the hub bearing to helps.johnjohn2_57.jpg

How to remove rear brakes on 2001 dodge caravan

Things You'll Need:
  • Floor jack Jack stand Wheel chock 1/2-inch drive breaking bar 1/2-inch drive socket set 1/2-inch drive ratchet C-clamp Bungee cord Flathead screwdriver Ball peen hammer Handheld portable propane torch (optional) Medium grade sand paper or emery cloth Anti-seize lubricant.
STEPS TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES
  1. Park the Dodge Caravan on a level paved or concrete surface.2
  2. Place a wheel chock in front of one of the front tires.3
  3. Break the lug nuts loose on the reartires.4
  4. Lift one side of the rear axle of theCaravan using the floor jack and place a jack stand under the rear axle.5
  5. Remove the lug nuts and tire.6
  6. Remove the caliper bolts using the ratchet and a socket. Remove the pads from the caliper starting with the outboard pad and pry it from the caliper housing with a flathead screwdriver. Remove the inboard pad and compress the piston of the caliper in using the C-clamp. Replace the pads. Hang the caliper to the frame using the bungee cord.
  7. Remove the caliper anchor bolts using the ratchet and a socket.8
  8. Remove any retaining rings on the hub of the rotor around the studs. Pry them off with the screwdriver and discard them. You will not need them for reinstallation.
  9. Strike the fin of the rotor on the edge using the ball peen hammer. Spin the rotor and strike it often and from the inside of the tire well moving out. Use as much force as necessary. If the rotor still does not want to come off (rare cases) light up the portable propane torch and apply a liberal amount of heat to the hub of rotor around the lug studs and strike with the hammer to shock it from the hub.0Sand down the hub facing with a medium grade sandpaper or emery cloth once the rotor has been removed and the hub has cooled down if you had to use the torch. Sand down the edges of the hub as well.
  10. Apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the edge of the hub and this will help in the future when the rotor needs to be removed again for whatever reason.
  11. Replace the parts in reverse procedure and repeat the steps for the other side.

Instructions for replacing brake pads on 2005 dodge ram 1500 4wd

Remove Tire
On the back ot the caliper ( holds Brake pads) there are two bolt or Screws ( usually allen heads) loosen those screws and remove them. pull off the caliper. check your rotor check for grooves and you might want to take them to get turned ( cleans the surface by taking a thin layer of metal off.

Using a C clamp or Disk brake pad tool carefully and slowly compress the piston back into the caliper....Slowly. Pace ne break pads in caliper and slide it back on to the rotor... replacing the bolts tighten them up...replace tire and you should be good to go. Remember to pump you breaks to get the pads to adjust will be soft at first. there should be no need to bleed the brakes.

2001 ram 2500 how to remove the wheel hub assembly

Remove tire. Remove caliper and caliper holder. Remove rotor. Using a 36 MM socket remove center nut and slide hub off spindle. If hub does not come off freely use wheel puller to remove hub.Loosen front wheel lug nuts. Jack up and support front of truck with jack stands ( put them in the middle so both you can get to both sides of the truck). Remove tire, Remove caliper and caliper holder. romove rotor ( I had to use a 2x4 wedged between rotor and lower controll arm rubber stoper. then started truck and turned the wheel right or left to pop rotor free). remove 3 bolts that hold hub to knuckle. on the next step I used a steel pipe about 1 1/2 foot i think about 2 inches in diamater. wedge it between lower controll arm rubber stoper. then start truck turn the wheel left or right to let power steering pump do the work. It poped it off easy for me both sides in less than 1 hour. put alot of anti seize on the new hubs and bolts in case you have to replace them again. use a torque wrench to tighten all bolts. Great time to replace brakes as long as you are in the area. hope this helps.

I have a ford f 150 4x4, that the Passager front tire can be moved up and down a little, took off tire, can move front end. Is this a wheel bearing ? How do you get to the wheel bearing ?

If this is a 2005 F-150 4x4. Usually if there is movement up and down, itmight possibly be the lower ball joints and not the wheel bearing, to verify that it is indeed bearing play you can grab a hold of your tire (with tire of the ground) and try and move it side to side instead of up and down. If you can still feel the movement then it is the wheel bearing. To get to the wheelbearing you will first have to remove the tiny center dust cap in the middle of the wheel. There should be a 13mm bolt you will need to remove under that cap. Next you will have to remove the brake caliper and caliper bridge, then remove the brake rotor. On the backside of the knuckle assembly you will see 4 bolts that hold the hub assembly (your wheel bearing) on. There also may be a plastic ring around the back of the hub assembly too that has vacuum lines running to it for the vacuum hub, this will be held on by 4 or so 8mm bolts, once all these bolts and the4 bolts holding the actuall hub assembly on are removed, you should be able to remove the hub (bearing) assembly from the front of the knuckle assy. Hope this helps.
