The induction cooktop will flash "F" when cookware has been removed from the surface; cookware is not present when the unit is turned on; or cookware is not centered on the element. Position the cookware properly over the center of the cooking surface if the error code "F" flashes. Use only induction cookware and use a bigger pan, as the error code "F" indicates that the pan is too small for the cooking element.

There are several helpful how-to videos on Youtube but please be aware induction hobs work on a principle different from the usual and the troubleshooting and repair is considered a specialist task - if you wouldn't poke around inside a tv or a computer then you probably shouldn't poke around inside your hob.

turn off the circuit breaker for 2 minutes and turn back on. try to unlock again.

I Just called GE about this problem, wanna know their answer???Replace the whole stainless stell cook top piece for $325 ! ! !Customer Service, at its finest.This is obviously a GE problem , i live in a neighborhood of recently constructed homes, all of which have the same GE appliances, and all my neighbors are having the same issues.Gee, thanks GE

I just spoke to GE about this, NO, they DONT have decals, instead they want you to replace the whole Cooktop piece for $300 +...Am so annoyed.All my neighbors who have the same appliances put in by the builder are having the same issues. It's a GE problem.

Sounds like igniter problem. Did some one pull the electrical cord or has a fuse or breaker blown/ Things to check. Your igniter is run by electricity.

Yes, turn it off and get a gas tech out to check it.

Take a q-tip and clean under where it clicks. Might have food or grease covering release hole.

Most likely it's the switch or element that's bad. Unless you wish to call service, start with the switch since it's probably cheapest of the 2.

maybe reason breaker kept blowing was a faulty cooktop

You could have a shorted burner, if it is not then you may have gotten a bad part. always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance

As to the grates sagging it depends on the manufacture on a recall. Generally when you order the replacement parts unless there has been an enhancement by the man., they will be the same. be sure not to use high heat for long periods this is what cause metal fatigue.

Check to see if you smell gas when you turn it on, make sure the igniter is clean all around it, make sure the caps are not on crooked. On the that wont stop clicking make sure the device that holds it to the main body is tight and has always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance good connection.

If there was sugar in the item that boiled over, it will not come off it etches the glass. If it was with out sugar you might try a razer blade to scrape it off it will not hurt the glass if you use it flat

My wife just called me with the same problem - all 4 starters are clicking repeatedly - which started while the range was being cleaned.
From a Google search, this is what I found. Don't know if it will solve our issues, though wanted to share as it sounds like we may all be suffering from dirty starters (electrodes).
My surface burners keep "clicking" even after the burner is lit. There are a few things to check for.

• Make sure the electrode (the small metal piece that the spark comes off from) is clean and the holes in the burner are clean, use a pin or paper clip to clean out the burner holes and NOT a tooth pick as these can break off and make things worse. • The next thing to check for are the ignition switches (http://www.applianceaid.com/images/surface-ignitor-switch.JPG) under the surface control knobs, the switches can twist and break and keep the spark module on and the spark keeps "clicking" even when the burner is lit.
• If every thing looks good, you may have a bad spark (http://www.applianceaid.com/images/surface-moduals.JPG) module, replace it. Sometimes cleaning can get moisture into the surface switches, try drying them with an hair dryer to see of this will help. Repair and checking tips for surface burners. I think you need to replace the key pad control panel.

How old is this cook top stove? Does it require replacement?

You most likely need a new control panel.
