I plugged in the printer to my mac and everytime I try to print it says that the printer is "offline".

Step 2: Ensure that the printer is turned on and plugged in, and there is no paper jam.

Have you installed the printer driver for the selected printer??

try different usb port, try different usb device to see if port is working try different cable.

Try plugging it in directly.
Sometimes the wifi printer has to be set up AFTER the hardwire setup.
If you are desparate, plug it in directly to your computer to get your job done and figure out the wifi later.

There appears to be a compatibility problem with the newer Mac OS systems. You have not stated whether the printer has ever worked with your current Mac. Here is a a potential source for a driver:

Check to see which driver is being tapped in device manager.

I'm presuming you have unticked the offline box in the printer que.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software package associated with the printer and Mac?

Is the Pixma connected to a wireless router (or connected by USB or ethernet cable)? It could be that the router connection failed. Try restarting the router, or repeat wireless connection on the Pixma.

Try power cycling both pc and printer

when you hook up your printer to your pc via USB...can the computer detect your printer? does it prompt out any msg such as new device is installed and ready to use or did it ask you to install the printer driver?
if your pc can't detect your printer, replace the USB cable and try again.. and try to plug into a different USB port on your pc.. and if all fails, then most probably your printer main board is faulty...

check the usb cable of printer try to reconnect it and make sure you use usb port in your printer properties

• Unplug the printer cable from the computer.
• Unistall the printer drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the printer appications
• restart the computer
• try to download drivers from the website
• after installing drivers and software it will ask you to connect the printer.
• then you can connect the printer and and try to Print the test page.
