There is nothing to do with adapter... you need to check with some other laptop to isolate where is the issue...

if your laptop works fine without dropping connection then get a replacement for your belkin adapter...

if your laptop also looses connection, then you need to check your wireless router...

Wireless antenna or wireless router

Did your ISP Boingo supply you with a DSL or cable modem with a built-in wireless router? If only a DSL or cable modem is supplied and you wish to connect to the Internet by wireless then you need to connect a wireless router to this DSL or cable modem.

You can connect to the Internet using a LAN cable from your laptop to the DSL or cable modem.
If your laptop as a built-in wireless card you can to the Internet via the wireless router.
If you laptop does not have a built-in wireless card then you can install a PCMCIA wireless card into the card slot of your laptop to the Internet via a wireless connection.

My wireless router modem wireless signal keep disconnecting

Assuming it has been running well in the past, it is likely there is some interference coming from another wireless source, most likely a cordless phone that you may have recently acquired.

Try to re-initialise the modem and see if there is any difference.

Belkin router can't connect to internet

This is part solution, part clarification request: When you say that you installed the setup software on your laptop, setup software for which: the modem, or the belkin router? Also what type of internet service do you have - Cable? DSL? If you are not sure, list your ISP. What operating systems do you have on your laptop and your main computer?

You say that you connected the modem to your main computer - I am assuming that you mean that you connected your modem with a network or ethernet cable (the one with a connector that looks similar to but larger than a telephone's connector) to your computer's ethernet card, or NIC, port. Is anything connected by ethernet cable to the Belkin router? If you have not connected the modem directly to the router, it will not connect to the internet, and anything connecting to the Belkin router will not be able to access the internet as well.

Try this: disconnected the power from your modem, then disconnect power from your router, and disconnect any ethernet cables from computer & modem, or computer and router. Connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the Belkin Router. (Ensure that you have plugged in the ethernet cable on the router into a port that is either set aside from others, or indicates "Internet", WAN, or something similar - it should be marked either with a different color, labled, or both). Now power on your modem. Wait until you see a steady "ready" light, green ethernet light, or the light usually lit for that model indicating it has completed its bootup tests and the internet connection is ready.
Next, ensure the ethernet cable is connected from the modem to correct WAN or "internet" port on the Belkin Router, then power up the router. Once the router boots up completely, plug in a cable from your computer's (main computer) NIC or ethernet card or port, to a port on the Belkin Router (there should be more than one port available, generally numbered "1, 2, 3" and so on - in a group, seperate from the WAN or internet port). Once you are sure you have the cable plugged into one of the correct ports, and if you have windows, restart your main computer.

Now on your main computer, check to see if you have an internet connection. If you do, you can now resume running the router's software setup on your laptop, which sounds as though it was walking you thru the setup process to connect you via wireless connection to the internet. Report back if you have any success, or if you have any further problems, and best of luck! Hope that info helps

Belkin F5D8236-4 Wireless Router will not connect to pannaway dsl modem with same settings as router I am replacing. Dynamic IP address setup. Modem light continously blinks orange. No internet light.

1) With direct connect with modem, check the IP address and default gateway.
(I came across such a modem, it gave default gateway as 192.168.1.254)
I also had the doubt of configuring as a dynamic connection
But it won't work!
Contact your ISP to completely bridge the modem and configure the dsl modem as PPPoE connection with correct username and password.
Finally connect the modem to router and do a complete network power cycle, i.e.: Unplug power from router 1st, then power from modem, unplug the telephone line and now do the exact reverse process... Plug back the tel. cable, then power to modem... now WAIT for lights on modem to come back, then plug in the power to router. This will surely work.

Do I need a 56K PCI Data Fax Modem for my new computer? If yes, why? If not, why? Thxs.

You only need a modem if you are going to be on a on a dail up internet connection or want to use your computer for faxing.

If you are using a broadband internet connection like cable or DSL, then the modem is not needed.

Hope this helps
