It's not unheard of for a router to fail. When you connected the computer to the Modem, did you use the same cable that was connected to the router? Does your internet connection require a username and password? If so, is that configured in your modem, or the router? If not in the modem it must be the router.

Losing the Belkin setup cd or software disc is one the most common problem. The best part is that you can install belkin router without cd disc. This process is called belkin web setup. Follow the steps below:1.Open browser in your pc and type 192.168.1.1 an dhit enter.2.Insert username and password given on the bottom of the Belkin router then login.3.Go to Internet settings and choose your internet connection type.4.Enter internet information given by your internet service provider.5.Now go to Wireless and Settings.6.Type SSID name as your wifi name and passphrase as your password.7.Click on Save settings and restart your Bekin router.8.Connect with your new SSID and password.

This is normal - indicates internet traffic. Don't worry about it so long as all the lights are green. The lights will turn orange if there is a fault of any kind.

Normally, connect pc with router, and modem off. Turn on the desktop and then turn on the modem and router. letting the modem and router assign ip addresses to all connected devices.

choose the "connect automatically when network is in range" option from control panel > network and sharing center > Manage wireless network > right-click the wifi network click properties to get there. Also make sure your desired network is at the top of the list so it is preferred over others.

The encryption (password) code is configured in the router's wireless settings. Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1 The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password. You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. just type 192.168.2.1 into your browser and it will get you into the settings, just as a cd would but you still have to manually enter your settings with either way of setup.

Do you have an all-in-one router from Comcast? For example, do you have the cable (RF) line and your PC plugged into the Comcast router? If so, unplug your PC from the Comcast router and connect the Internet port of the Belkin to the ethernet port on the Comcast router. Then plug your PC into the LAN port on your Belkin.

[PC] ---> [Belkin] ---> [Comcast] ---> Internet

Once you have connected your boxes as displayed above, you will need to power everything off and bring up the boxes in the following order:

Comcast (wait 60 seconds)
Belkin (wait 60 seconds)
PC

If you cannot get out to the internet, momentarily press the reset button on the back of the Comcast box. Comcast routers are weird. A poweroff should reset the router but I have seen a few times where nothing works until the reset button is pressed (this is also recommended by Comcast).

hi the router is not giving IP. restart the router to solve the issue. from ipod delete this wifi network by right click and forget network. connect again. update me

you didn't need to reformat your machine. did you try another cable? if that doesn't work, take a paperclip and stick it in the reset port of the router while its plugged in.

hi we had the same it is belkins fault i had to buy a wireless router from vigin .i have mine for about 7 months now and had no problems at all hope you get it sorted

Have you checked to see if either computer has a static IP address? that might conflict with the DHCP table.

You may be able to get an external antenna for it; check where the existing antenna connects to see if it can be removed. If not, raising the elevation of the access point will help. Also, be sure to place the access point away from thick walls or metal.

This sounds like it is probably the networking cables as your PC is directly connected so shouldnt have problems with net access. Get new cables as a first step :0)

Try other power outlet first. If the router have a power off and on button, then switch it on. Check the router power specs. If you have other device with the same power specs, try it out. If it is still within the warranty of Belkin, try to have the router replaced by them.
