Assuming it has been running well in the past, it is likely there is some interference coming from another wireless source, most likely a cordless phone that you may have recently acquired.

Try to re-initialise the modem and see if there is any difference.

With the power on hold down the power button for 7 seconds and it will factory reset the router. Should have success using this, if not it means the hardware for the wireless component is faulty or broken.

First reboot your router and then call your cust. service for your internet and have them trouble shoot and reset your connection.

WIn XP has a built in Firewall that may be enabled. To disable this Click on Start, go to control panel and then network connections. Right click the local area connection and go to properties. Click the advanced tab and uncheck: Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet. If you do not do this it can prevent you from using the router or even accessing the router configuration screen. The reason it causes a problem is the router already has a firewall and the built in firewall can cause a problem.

That router cannot block specific websites. You would need to install a program designed to do that on the computer you wish the websites to be blocked from.

Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless router. DO NOT use a wireless connection, use a cable.
Open your web browser and type the IP address of the router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter.

Click Login on the top of the page to login to the router. By default the Password is left blank, click Submit.
Click Security under Wireless menu.
Under Security, Select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bit WEP).
Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength). You may also enter a pass phrase and have the router generate a key for you. Example (0102030405060708090a0b0c)
Apply the settings.
Please write down the key – You will need it later to configure your wireless computers with the same key.
Remember to set an admin password before you close down, other vice anyone can access you router and change the setup and admin password.

Try resetting the Belkin back to the default condition.
To reset the Belkin back to the default settings -
Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router and thenpower for at least 15 secs. Then release the RESET button.
Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open abrowser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop withthe router's wireless settings.

I'm sure you want to secure your wireless network so only you can access it. There are many ways in doing this But first you have to change the router's default password to this You can enable the wireless encryption so you will be prompted to type a network password before connecting to your network. Lastly you can enable MAC filtering.

I would recommend checking to see what your computer is using as a default gateway. Press the Windows key and the R button at the same time to open the run window and then typy in "cmd".
In the command prompt you will want to type in "ipconfig" to get the configuration of your network adapter. Your default gateway should be the router. If you still can't access the router using the default gateway IP address then you will need to reset the router using the reset button on the back of the unit near the power cable.

Unplug your modem then your router anywhere from 2-5 minutes, then plug in your modem then router and it should automatically reset itself and find your IP address if not call Belkin an they can help you.If you have Cox Cable you have to register w/them first they can also help w/your problem. That's what I did anyways.You would be surprised at how much they can help. Good Luck

WIRELESS SECURITY ISSUES

Step 1 : Connect Router - Computer ( Wired)

Step 2 : Open Router Setup by typing http://192.168.2.1 on the address bar of internet explorer

Step 3 : On the left under wireless click wi - fi protected setup

Step 4 : Leave the password blank and click on submit

Step 5 : Disable it and Click on apply changes

Step 6 : On the left under wireless click Security

Step 7 : Enable 64 Bit WEP

Step 8 : Type a 10 digit number on the key 1 ( 2 in each box )

Step 9 : Click apply changes

Step 10 : on the left under wireless click channel and SSID

Step 11 :Change the Wireless channel to 6

Step 12 : Change the SSID to a different name ( no Spaces )

Step 13 : Click apply changes

Step 14 : Now Scan and connect to this network ( Wireless )

Step 6:Scan and connect in the Xbox/PS3/Wii

Step 7: Get the IP Address of the Xbox/PS3/Wii

Step 8:Open Router Setup in the Computer

Step 9:On the left under Firewall Click DMZ

Step 10:Enable the IP Address of the Xbox/PS3/Wii in it

Step 11:Click Apply Changes

Step 13:On the left Under Utilities click System settings

Step 14:Scroll down to the bottom

Step 15:Enable UPnP

Step 16:Click apply changes

Step 17:Test the connection ,Check the NAT

If it is still not working

Open Router setup

At the middle Under internet settings check the WAN IP

IF it starts with 192.168. or 172.16 Then you will have to contact your internet service and ask them to bridge the modem

192.168.2.1

Because default password is not working.... Please Re-set your router in order to re configure it. Press the re set button for 1 min (tiny hole at the bottom)
