My wireless light on my router keep blinking red

Which light is Red blinking, you should unplug the router, and wait about 2 min, then plug back, if you still see the blinking red light, it may be a bad Router if it is the power light,.

Sounds like a startup self test. All wireless devices go through a power on self test. Does it connect? You can connect to it and go online? I rarely turn mine off, only in a electrical storm.

Red light usually indicates no internet connection.

Check the units manual for LED signal indentification.

Is your router connected directly to the wall or to a modem?

Unplug power cable for router and after a minute or 2 replug it back for it to re-establish the connection to the server. If you have a modem, powercycle or unplug it as well. Turn modem on first before the router.

This is caused by the firmware not loading correctly. Follow theses steps on the Cisco website to fix this :

Disconnect all "wired" computers.
Shutdown all "wireless" devices (iPod Touch, wireless laptop).
If the light still blinks, then either this is "normal" for your router,
or your router has been "hacked" by computer-hackers.

Contact your ISP for advice.

Also check if the power light on your router is blinking. If it is blinking, that's an indication of hardware failure. To revive it, do a hard reset. Press and hold the power button of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power. Wait for 30 seconds again before you plug it back in.

Hi, Based on your post/description, the Siemens AP/Router is at fault. This could have been brought about by lightning, power surge, plain hardware failure or system/software error. The red status light - on indicates an error (on the firmware)(blinking during start-up or when firmware is being downloaded/updated); WAN light blinking green - data transmission to/from your ISP (it is also possible that the router is trying to download corrective software or firmware update). Suggest you let it run for sometime just in case it is really downloading/upgrading firmware. If full reset of the router doesn't correct the problem, you may have to replace the unit.
