Unfortunately this model of router has no support for directly connecting anything other than a printer that already supports Ethernet.

Since that's not the case with most consumer printers you will need to buy a "Print Server" These are made by all the main manufacturers, and come with a collection of interfaces, USB / Parallel of the printer, and Ethernet or WiFi of the network side.

They all pretty much do the same thing so go for one that meets your needs.

You might be getting intermittent connection. What is the exact model and version of your router? check your firmware. It might need to be upgraded. =)

If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.

Can the others see the network? (Start, connect to, show all connections). If they can then you're half way there.

Have you enabled any type of security on the router? If you have then be sure the others are set the same.

It appears the connection between the Linksys and the modem is not working.
Try a different LAN cable.
Check the LAN cable from the modem to the Linksys, it should be connected to the WAN/Internet port on the Linksys.

After reformatting your dell 8400, did you reinstall all drivers of your devices? The linksys router won't be affected by the reformat. Your computer should still get connection from your router.
