If you are getting a screaching noise when you are trying to scan something, the scanner bar is either dirty or bad. You can either try and open up the device and clean it or you can buy a new one.

I have found that it's just cheaper to buy a new one then trying to replace parts unless it's a $800+ business device.

I wish you the best of luck.

Sounds like time to buy a new printer. The printers these days, making a noise like that, indicate (usually) that the belt drive is off the track or has teeth in the gears broken. Most printer repair shops have told me they can't really fix these things. Cheaper to buy a new one.

Won't scan Makes loud noise

The scanner is probably locked. there will be a sliding lock somewhere on your scanner that you will need to unlock before you can use the scanner. If you can provide me with the model number of the scanner I can see if i can find a manual for you that will tell you where the lock is.

1998 dodge grand caravan. The doors lock automatically when you begin to drive. They make a loud grinding noise when this happens. The locks still work but it make the sound when you lock or unlock the...

That sound is going to be your door lock motors wearing out. I would suggest getting them replaced pretty quickly as they will soon stop locking altogether. It's not cheap, but it isn't horribly expensive either.

Hello I have a 2000 neon and when I use the electronic lock the doors make a loud buzzing noise.

The loud buzzing noise means the electric motor that actual unlocks the door has failed or is failing. In order to repair this you need to replace them.

Paper tray problem - full of paper but can't pull up paper and display says tray empty also loud clicking noise coming from paper tray

hopefully we can stop problem before it gets worse, take paper tray all the way out of machine, look at back of tray where paper stop is, move to LTR make sure arrow is pointing directly to it, not before od after, then lock it in, the pictograhm has a pad lock symbol to show locked and unlocked. if the blue tape is still in paper tray, remove it. hopefully no damage done to pick up assembly, or gears on paper tray

My scanner :makes a loud noise when trying to scan or copy

Unless you forgot and tried to use it locked…then unlocked it after, it seems unlikely that changing the ink could directly affect anything related to the scanner. So especially if it still scans and now just makes more noise then before, we can reasonably say it isn’t a faulty locking mechanism and that the gears are probably not stripped, which would either stop it or not. So you’re looking at either something simple like the gear assembly being dry, shifted slightly, etc. or the safety by the lock that makes noise to tell you the device is locked is stuck somehow. The one can be tested by removing the little plastic safety that makes the noise when the scanner is turned on and locked; the other you might be able to test with some WD40 and see if it runs quieter.

My 5800 keeps telling me to unlock it when I click scan, but I can't find the lock anywhere.

The 5800 scanner does not have a physical lock switch. DO NOT attempt to open the scanner and unlock the hardware. This could be either a hardware failure or software
Toggle the lock switch on the scanner leaving the switch in the unlocked (open padlock) position.
Ensure you are using the correct power supply for your scanner. If you are using a power supply that has the incorrect DC output, you will get a scanner locked error message. This flatbed scanners has I believe 100-120V AC input and 12V DC output.

Plug the power directly to the wall, not a UPS battery back-up, power strip or surge protector. Power fluctuations from a UPS battery back-up, power strip or surge protector may be causing this error. If all this fails try reinstalling the scanner driver
