This appears to be two questions. "I have no disc" is solved by downloading the drivers from the Visioneer site.
I do not understand the second part...???

look at downloaded driver is it exe extension . you need to run the driver program. If it is inf extension then you update the driver in device manager and select have disk.

Most of the time a scanner by default, will scan a document in a tif or other image file format. That means that the scanned image is actually very similar to a photograph. In order to edit the text, you first have to convert the image using something that's called OCR software. OCR is a process that the software uses to look at a scanned document image and determine what characters are on the page. It's not always very accurate but that depends on the quality of the scan and on the OCR software being used. You must have received some sort of scanning software with the scanner. Hopefully it containes some sort of OCR software. Some scanners will save you this extra image manipulation by having a setting that allows you to scan directly to a word document. Usually in that configuration, the OCR software automatically knows to convert the scanned document image in order to automate the process. i was getting this message when i was using the wrong power supply, i used a diffrent power supply and restarted the computer and it no longer says it, so i couldnt tell you exactly which one made it work, but now i get a box telling me i dont have enough disk space??? any anwsers for that??

If you need a replacement, you have two choices. Visioneer no longer makes this scanner, but they do offer replacement power adaptors. They run about $20 plus shipping. It may be quicker (and cheaper) to look on the scanner (maybe on the bottom or on the back, probably beside the power jack) or on the current adaptor itself and see what the power rating is. It will say something like "6 VDC, 1A" or "5.5 VDC, 3-5A". These are the two power ratings you need. VDC is the DC voltage, and A is the amperage. You can take the power adaptor to a local Radio Shack or similar electronics shop, and they'll help you with an appropriate adaptor. You may also be able to find an appropriate adaptor at a large electronics store (like Best Buy) or a large discount store like Wal-Mart or Target. Just go to the electronics section. A small speciality shop will probably take the adaptor and give you the choice of one or two that will work. In a larger store, you may not get as much help, so you just want to match both power numbers on the package, then make sure the plugs on the end of the power cords match, so the new one will fit your scanner (universal adaptors often include several tips that can be put on the end of the power cord; just make sure one of them is the same size and shape as yours).

My power supply for my Visoneer 5800 appears to just have kicked the bucket... And, I stumbled across your post in a search for a replacement.

Anyhow, here are the specs off mine:

You can change colour option is scanner software from where you scanned. For that before scanning open that software then go to it's settings and change scan option to color if you want color. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Unfortunately, if the manufacturer has a bad driver, then the one on the cd is probably bad, too.

Having re-read your post it seems you have a visioneer scanner and installed HP scanjet drivers so this would definitely be an issue.

Ok, unplug usb lead between scanner and pc.
go into add/remove programs and remove any scanner software that may be showing.
load correct scanner driver (preferably the latest version from the manufacturers website).
plug in scanner usb lead when prompted and turn scanner power on.
It should then install correctly.

If usb stuff starts playing up it's usually easier to unplug it, uninstall it then re-install it using the latest drivers from the manufacturers' website. Don't just stick the disc in and re-install. Can save hours of messing about.
