Scanning from Photoshop it send me directly to the troubleshooting message. I've detected that my scanner is not starting up, I mean, the light is not on and it does not even make the typical noise when is turned on (completely frozen!!) It is probably the 1st or 2nd time I've used it since new (8 months ago) but is refurbished from Epson website. Any advice or how to fixed? It was never beaten or anything. thanks

Hi

Does your computer notice / detect the scanner? if it does not, then the power supply might not be working or it might not be plugged in, you might need a new powersupply or then the scanner itself might have a fault that prevents it from starting up, try unplugging it for a while and see if it helps, also make sure that the power adapter is the one ment for this scanner, a different adapter that doesn't give out exactly what the scanner requires might damage it.

A new basic scanner doesn't cost much, so replacing parts on this one might be more costly than buying a new one.

Try connecting it to another usb / port, preferably directly on the computer itself in the back, front or on the top of the case.

I was using it on microsoft 8 with an Photoshop 13. Upgraded Microsoft 10 and the 4850 does not work. The message I get is no WIA device is located is there something I can do to get it working?

If you upgraded your operating system from Windows 8 to Windows 10 and are experiencing issues with your HP 4850 scanner, specifically receiving a "no WIA device is located" message, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem:
1. Check Scanner Compatibility: Ensure that the HP 4850 scanner is compatible with Windows 10. Visit the official HP website and search for the scanner model to find compatibility information and any available drivers or software updates specifically designed for Windows 10.
2. Update Drivers: Download and install the latest drivers for the HP 4850 scanner compatible with Windows 10 from the HP website. Make sure to select the correct drivers for your specific scanner model and the version of Windows 10 you are using.
3. Uninstall and Reinstall Software: Completely uninstall the existing HP scanning software from your computer. Go to the Control Panel, locate the scanner software, and uninstall it. Afterward, restart your computer and reinstall the latest version of the software provided by HP for Windows 10.
4. Run Hardware Troubleshooter: Windows 10 has a built-in hardware troubleshooter that can automatically detect and fix common issues. Open the Windows Settings, go to "Update & Security," select "Troubleshoot," and then choose "Hardware and Devices." Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter and see if it resolves the problem.
5. Check WIA Service: Verify that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running on your computer. Press Win + R on your keyboard, type "services.msc," and press Enter. In the Services window, locate the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service, right-click on it, select "Properties," set the startup type to "Automatic," and click "Start" to initiate the service if it's not already running.
6. Try Compatibility Mode: Right-click on the scanner software executable file or shortcut, select "Properties," go to the "Compatibility" tab, and check the option to run the program in compatibility mode. Choose the previous Windows version (Windows 8) and apply the settings. Then, try running the software again and check if the scanner is recognized.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to contact HP's customer support or visit their website for further assistance. They will have specific knowledge and resources to address any compatibility or functionality problems with your HP 4850 scanner on Windows 10.

  • Scanner failure, power off and on
  • Scanner System Failure
  • Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
  • Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
  • Scanner failure, cycle power
Additionally, the scanner bulb might not turn on during scanning.ry the following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue. When one of the solutions resolves the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.Solution one: Check the scanner lightFollow these steps to check the scanner light by making a color copy of any document.
  1. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
  2. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
  3. Make a color copy.
  4. When the product starts to scan the document to copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light turns on. It is not necessary to lift the lid completely CAUTION:Do not look directly at the scanner light. The scanner light should be visible under the scanner glass to the right or left.Figure 1: Scanner light visible underneath the glass
1 - Area where scanner light is visible2 - Scanner glass

Solution three: Reset the productFollow these steps to reset the product.
    1. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn off the product.note.pngNOTE:The product might not turn off after pressing the Power button. Continue to the next step regardless.
    2. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

    9. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
    10. Try again to make a color copy.

My Epson RX650 scan software will not start up. The printer works and the copy feature works. When I double click on the Epson Scan icon on my desktop it appears that it wants to start up but then...

Install another scanning software, if you have photoshop or any imaging software, you can use the scanner by going to the menu, then choose File, Import, TWAIN, Acquire and the scanner control will appear.

Or just go to My Computer and double click the scanner icon (in XP) to start the scanning assistant.

I have a Photosmart 3310 that I use with a MacBook Pro. I have scanned before but all of a sudden I can't scan. I have tried restarting, reinstalling software, restarting Photoshop. Help!!!

Don't reinstall Photoshop any more, that's not necessary. Just leave PS alone.
Have you done anything, like upgraded the operating system?
Try a couple of things. We'll start with the easiest.
Try scanning directly from the "Preview" application - this works really well.
Open the application "Preview"
Go to the File menu, and then "Import from Scanner" - hopefully your scanner shows up ...
This is a great way to scan.
If your printer/scanner does not show up when you do this, you will need to (sorry to say) re-install the software for the printer. But you said you already did that!
I'm going to suggest, if you haven't already, to go to hp.com and find your printer and download the package of software for it and reinstall that way - they periodically update the software. HP printers are a bit fussy about this, so reinstalling the "latest" HP software is definitely worth trying.
Hope that helps!

Fi-5750C Fujitsu scanner can't change grayscale default setting

Photoshop is not an "advanced" scanning program. To get some "production" and value out of this expensive scanner you need a professional scanning program which also may control the settings of the scanner. Use PixEdit which utilizes the built-in jpeg compression in the scanner. Did a test scanning 10 pages A4 duplex fullcolor. Adobe Acrobat Pro used 4 minutes. PixEdit used 20 seconds. Guess Photoshop (in your version) would also scan uncompressed and not use this good scanner optimal.

Can't calibrate the scan before scanning

I had the same problem when upgrading to mac os x. I was trying to scan directly from Photoshop but got the calibration message. I tried the two solutions given at the Canon website but they didn't work. I ended up downloading the Toolbox application to scan directly from there but the same message appeared. After installing the Toolbox application I unistalled the driver (11250) and reinstalled it. I opened Photoshop and tried scanning and the calibration window appeared only this time it didn't stop to give me the "Flim Adapter" warning. I must point that the scanner lid was open when this happend but I'm not sure that had anything to do with it.

So apparently it works if you have the Toolbox installed prior to installing the driver. The driver, Toolbox application and unistall driver can be found at Canon's website. Hope this helps.

Ciao!
