Answered

The lexmark x2650 doesn't have the OCR software in it. I try to scan a document and edit it but can't because no OCR software included

    I dowload lexmark x2650 in erternate and install in my computer, when I scan a document a massage apear 'an image-to-text(ocr) application is provided for you on your CD in the OCR folder.- select OK to cancel this operation.
    -Install your OCR software.
    -Try your operation again"
    I try all three instruction but above message apear OCR Program Missing.

    You may need to uninstall your existing printer software first. On your computer, go to Start > Programs > Lexmark 2600 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, restart your computer when prompted.

    When your computer turns back on, re-insert the printer software installation CD into your computer hard drive and re-install the whole program. Then try to scan again to verify that the problem is fixed.

To scan documents for editing and saving as PDF file, you will need to install the Lexmark OCR scan software on your computer. The Lexmark scan software (no downloadable version) is only available on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.


To install the OCR scan software from the printer installation CD:

  1. Insert CD into the CD-ROM drive. If the installation screen open, click Cancel.
  2. Double-click on My Computer / Computer.
  3. Right-click on Lexmark XXXX CD and select Open.
  4. Double-click on OCR.
  5. Double-click on Setup.exe to install the OCR software. Your operating system will then determine the language in which it is installed.

If it truely has an optical character reader(OCR) built into the scaner it would not provide the software for it since the software is rather a large program an cost in excess of $100 just by itself. Link to you model support page below:

OCR doesn't work with WINDOWS 7 and my Lexmark X5650es printer
Try this approach:1. Uninstall your existing printer driver. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark X5600 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, reboot your pc when prompted.2. When your pc turns on, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. On your computer, go to Start menu > right-click on Computer > click on Properties. Take note of the System Type.3. Use the link below to download and re-install the corresponding printer driver for your operating system:- Lexmark X5650 Printer Driver for Windows 7 32-bit- Lexmark X5650 Printer Driver for Windows 7 64-bitSimply follow the instructions on your computer screen to complete the installation.4. To re-install the Lexmark OCR scan software, insert the printer software installation CD in your pc CD-ROM drive.5. Click on Install > Install Additional Software > select the Lexmark OCR Scan Software > continue with normal installation steps.

Everytime i scan a document on my lexmark all in one it doesn't come up as a letter in order for me to edit it for my changes.
When you scan a document, basically all you're doing is taking a picture of it. You end up with an image file that you can view, but not a text file that you can edit. You need an optical character recognition (OCR) program to convert the scanned image into text.

The CD that comes with an all-in-one printer or standalone scanner almost always includes some OCR software. You didn't give a model number so I can't look it up on Lexmark's site to see what downloads are available, but you can check for yourself if you don't have the disc. OCR capability is also available if you have Microsoft Office installed, and you can find under "Microsoft Office Tools". Several free OCR applications are also available on the Web.

OCR programs aren't 100% accurate. The don't always get it right, so expect to have to do some correcting in the text file that's created. Some fonts, sizes and page layouts confuse the software, and some programs are better than others. But in any case, it's better than having to type the entire document in by hand.

Click on the Microsoft, Macintosh or Linux/Unix drop-down found below the page to choose the version of your computer's operating system. go to this site http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi
put in your country etc.......
choose the x1240 in the driver box.......then search
choose windows vistamag-glass_10x10.gif from the operating dropdown box.......
click on download now and then install the new driver.....
