The knob has nothing to do with question i asked i need to size size of wire for power
1) Copy following link for live answer Dec 2012 to figure correct wire size
http://waterheatertimer.org/Color-codewire.html2) Fixya posts 'recommended' answers based on computer guessing what you asked. Look for date on each answer.Recommended answers can be totally unrelated, but sometimes they are spot on. These answers were posted by experts over previous years, and now fixya owns the work done by others and uses that work to answer questions that live expert does not answer.3) This particular Question was posted under 'Chrome timer knob set,' and somehow ended up among timer questions. Each expert answers questions by expertise such as timer, water heater, electric wiring etc. Often the questions do nor show a product or clearly state what answer is needed. People do not always know what they are asking for. That's why fixya is here: to help sort out possible answers. So the expert sometimes guesses at answer, or the computer guesses which recommended answers to post.4) Add a comment for live follow-up, Dec 2012 If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at

Oven beeps and displays F2 or F3?
Hello there:
this error code is telling you that the oven temperature sensor is going haywire and needs to e replaced
Here is the 2 error codes and what they mean and what needs to be checked
F2
Oven temp
exceeds 590 w/ unlocked door
High resistance
or interference in oven temperature sensor. Replace oven
temperature sensor
F3
Open oven
temperature sensor circuit
Replace oven
temperature sensor
Lower element in oven will not come on I replaced
You need a multimeter to do some fault-finding. Also, check for a (usually hidden) square ceramic fuse mounted inside the thermal insulation of some ovens. They go open circuit with age.
The multimeter is used to perform fault-finding on the oven's controls, (inc the fuses) to determine voltage presence. Sometimes the fuse holders themselves corrode internally, causing problems.
How come the broiler is working and the oven is
When you select oven setting do the oven element and the broiler come on at the same time? If they do and the oven is not working the oven element is probably blown or there is burnt wiring at the element terminals.
