Losing internet connection when I try to connect laptop to wireless router
Your cloning the mac address - thats the problem. It should use it's own mac address to connect to the modem. You need to power down the modem, then repower after a minute or so to let it connect to the new mac address. The problem you are seeing is due to network collisions betweenj the desktop and the router with the modem.

I can not remember my
If you mean you can't remember your WEP/WPA passcode then that can be fixed by accessing the compute through a lan line (ethernet) and just reconfigure it for a new passcode. If you mean you can't remember the code TO the router then you can always press the reset button on the back of the device for ~5 sec and reset it that way. A lot of standard (factory setting) passcodes are password with a login of admin

Where do I find the network key for my Belkin F5D7230-4 model router?
Follow this instructions:1. connect via hard wired connection using your PC (network cable)2. open your internet explorer or any browser.3. type the numbers 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.1 on the address bar4. you will be routed to your router's settings, type admin for USERNAME: and just leave it blank for PASSWORD.5. look for the basic setup/settings6. look for the wireless settings7. under your SSID comes the WEP or WPA-PSK option8. that is your wi-fi password, then modified it and remember the password you use for you will need to enter it on your pc when you are connecting via wireless connection.you can select ASCII for password. it should be alpha numeric or combination of letters and numbers.9. select save and apply. then you are good to go.thanks for choosing fixya and rate this post.

I forgot my password for belkin f5d7231-4
Do you mean the password for the wireless network or the password for the router.
If you don't know the wireless network key or the password then you will need to access the router set up and you will find the wireless password there.
If you don't know the password to access the router then you will need to reset the router and reconfigure the router.

Im having an invalid ip
Hello,
If your computer is not properly authenticated to your wireless router or if DHCP is turned off in the router an invalid address or (windows auto configure address of 169.x.x.x) may occur since windows can not find a DHCP server, it assigns its own default address space to your PC.
1. If your PC is connected via wireless make sure you input the correct wep / wpa or wpa2 password.
2. If your PC is connected via cable reboot the router and see if it gets a valid address. If it still doesn't, you may need to reset the router by pressing and holding the reset for min 5 seconds. You may have DHCP disabled which is causing this issue so resetting the router will re-enable that.
Do you have more then one PC connected to your network? Do they all get 169 addresses or just one? If just one has this issue then it could be the network card (try removing it from device manager and reboot the PC so it finds it again and reconfigures it) IF the PC is connected via cable, try another cable. Make sure the PC is connected to a LAN port not a WAN port.
If resetting the router and everything else does nothing, you may need to replace the router.

I have a belkin router
No lights on router means no power coming in. Check first if you have any loose ends on the power cord. Try plugging your router to another working power outlet as well. Sometimes, electronic equipments can operate much better if plugged in directly to power outlet than to a surge protector. If all of these doesn't work, then it must be a defective router now.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, WITH A BELKIN ROUTER I HAD PURCHASED...MY IP DID NOT ACCEPT THIS TYPE OF ROUTER, AND AS MUCH AS THEY COST AT THE STORES, I FOUND IT CHEAPER TO GO THROUGH MY OWN IINTERNET PROVIDER,..TO GET GET THIER ROUTER AND HAD IT ADDED TO MY BILL, IN (3) SMALL PAYMENTS.
YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY MAY NOT ACCEPT (BELKIN)...SURE THE STORE'S WILL TELL YOU DIFFERENT, SO TO GET THERE BONUS...BUT IT'S ALWAYS BEST TO GO THROUGH YOUR IP IF POSSIBLE!
I WOULD TAKE BACK THAT BELKIN ROUTER AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK, AND USE THE MONEY TOWARDS THE ROUTER, THAT YOUR IP ACCEPTS! YOU WILL GET IT IN A MATTER OF (3) DAYS MAX!
HOPE THIS HELPS!
