Tried to secure my router and have been locked out

simple solution reset the router, on the back you should see a little black button or a small hole, press the button for 15 seconds (insert somthing into the hole if it is that type) for 15 second, let the system reset let the lights turn green again, then start up your internet connection on your computer, in the search bar enter http://192.168.2.1 or http://192.168.0.1 this will bring admin screan with pass word, that all should be printed on bottom of router...if not try admin= admin password=password, that should take you to the main menu, from there you can imput all your details and security settings...hoped that helped

->First,restart your computer ->Open web browser and enter the IP address and enter the login details on the login screen and proceed.Click Router Status under Maintenance and check if you see your IP address.->If you see 0.0.0.0, the router is not obtaining the IP address. It can happen due to various reasons. Check Default Gateway->If you are still unable to browse the Internet, ping your router's connection to the PC. Someone pressed the reset button on my belkin n600 db n+ router, and now I can't get it to work with my laptop! Help

It just clears any custom settings, and the laptop IP may still be cached (in memory).From the laptop go to Start > Search (Run in XP) and type cmd ENTER. In the command prompt type ipconfig /release ENTER. Then type ipconfig /renew ENTER. This just refreshes your IP. Test it. Remember custom network and password are gone.There is a paper tab underneath the unit with the default wireless name and password.Use a network cable computer to access web interface. 192.168.2.1 to see that information as well. No user or password for the web page.

Slowly loses internet connection

Return it and buy a better brand? It is normal for a router to get pretty warm - difficult to say what is too warm. You could try aiming a fan at it and see if performance improves - if so, that is the problem. Any way to improve ventilation? I suspect the 13 volt measurement you made is with no load - not connected to the router. It is normal for the no-load voltage of a power supply to be considerably higher than the working voltage. Perhaps you could rig some clipleads or open the router case to measure the voltage when it is connected and see if it is significantly higher than the 9V rating - which would be a problem causing overheating.

Attempted to set up wireless security - lost all wireless

Sure the reset button will fix this, because it will reset the router tofactory defaults and erase all personal settings.

The better and easier way is to connect one of your clients/computers to the router via an Ethernet cable, login to your router (The default is http://192.168.2.1), go back to your wireless settings and either write down the key or delete it.

Now connect from another computer and provide the network key when asked for it. Make sure that broadcasting the SSID is enabled in your router, so computers can "see" the network. (Look at page 47 of your manual for details.)

If you don't have a manual, you can download it here.

If you have any more questions or need assistance with any of these steps, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Belkin router just died? What do I do?

There are 2 possible cause of this problem;

First the router's power adapter is already busted if you happen to have a spare or another power adapter with the same output as the original one try it first before deciding to purchase a new one.

Second, the routers processor or the entire board insed the router is already shorted, if it is still under warranty(this model has a lifetime warranty according to the specifications) send it back to the store where you purchased it or to Belkin(some manufacturers and stores also provide replacement for faulty power adapters).

I AM USING A BELKIN G WIRELESS ROUTER MODEL F5D72...

Either you have not configure the Wireless SSID or your router is faulty. You can use the easy setup using the CD or configure the router by going to the default IP address. Do read the setup manual first.
