I just purchased a Belkin Router and two nights
You still have a connection with a desktop at home, right? If not you'll need to do the following with your laptop connected by ethernet.
I can give you advice based on my experience,I think it's similar.
Where I live the power goes out a lot in the Summer due to weather. If it's out for very long, the router defaults to factory settings.
Since you just bought your router you still have the default info for setup on Belkin's sight. You need to go back there and set up your internet and network settings again.Right now your router isn't aware that you have a network. You can use the same SSID and security settings and key,you just have to tell the router at Belkin setup. The url to type into your browser is:
http://192.168.2.1
If this helps, would you rate my post please?
Thanks
Bob

Belkin surf router and cable
Hi
Open “Set up a Wireless Router” or Access Point by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Network and Sharing Center. In the left pane, click “Set up a connection or network”, and then click Set up a wireless router or access point.
The wizard will walk you through the process of adding other computers and devices to the network.

I'm trying to install the Belkin router and I get an error
If the cable is too long from the MAIN phone socket you won't get the signal to your router. You set the router as close as poss to the MAIN phone socket i.e. 2 to 5meters away. Then use a wireless adapter connected in your desktop USB socket.Use the adapter disc to set it up.This receives the signal from your router and installs it into the USB port.

Forgotten my password and user name, can't use
Unplug your router and leave it unplugged for 10 seconds. Use a straightened paper clip and press it into the RESET button hole on the back of the router, you should hear a click (like a mouse click noise.) While it's held down, plug back in your router, then after a few seconds release the paper clip.
This will reset your router to its factory defaults but any settings (including wireless settings) will be lost.

I want to conect a belkin wireless router to the
Plase connect the router with the computer using a lan cable. go to dos prompt and do a ipconfig
then note the default gateway and then open internet explorer or firefox and write \\ followed by the gateway ip. usually the gateway is 192.168.1.1 so you write \\192.168.1.1.
open internet explorer or firefox and type \\192.168.1.1 and press enter
enter useranme as admin and the password as password or admin or leave it blank and press enter
Configure the settings
select the internet connection type(for eg its pppoe for DSL connection) if you are chosing pppoe please make sure that your modem is in bridge mode. If your modem stores your isp username and password then select Dynamic ip address.
Please check with your isp regarding the connection type.

I recently got an iPod touch, and realized you
first unplug everything then wait 30 seconds then replug everything and try it if that doesnt work there could be a power cord problem in which case you would need a new one because of the wiring system inside will not work correctly after a wired has been frayed or damaged.
