if you have some thin lines on the top of the picture probably you have a problem on the power supply for the convergence

try resodering the connections on the flyback. Its fairly comon for that model to have hairline cracks at the solder joints which will cause the symptoms youre describeing.

Many a good set have been destroyed by stumbling around in the service menu. One wrong thing and boom no more Tv. But we'll try to help you here, turn the set off. hold both the volume down and chanel down on the front of the set. hold them both in till the set turns on Then from this menu go to geomatry and you should be able to adjust from there , and for Gods sakes write down the values before you change them so you have a refrance point should things go terribly wrong

What does the picture look like when it is on?

FBT just solders in and out you do not have to have sams which now comes on disk to replace Fly.You need part # to FBT there is only 2 wires to hook back up .

Yes they are spark gaps and no when bad high voltage will arch out of them, Go to Cp150 2200uf 16 capacitor if it is puffed up on top it is bad .you have 3 that need re[lacing cp114 cp120 cp150

Yes and No it depends on what is wrong If your luky it will be 3 capacitors on Deflection board cp150 2200uf 16v and cp114 cp120 220uf 35v capacitors they are green with gold writing on them If cp150 is puffed up on top it is bad. So then replace other 2 caps.

you need to replace the bulb. It costs about a hundered dollars and you can replace it yourself. refer to the lamp replacement instructions that came with your set

The problem is most likely due to a defective convergence IC.

There are two convergence STK ICs located on the convergence board.

You need first to test the ICS, by checking for continuity the pico fuses at the base of the ICs, then replace the faulty STK.

You should trying doing it yourself only if you are a proven electronic repairer.

There is a short, the tv is trying to come on but the fault is keeping it from coming on. Try to find a bad board inside the tv, check all fuses or continuity. Thatll give you a place to start from.

One of the boards may have failed, have you looked inside the tv?

Does it give you a "No Signal" on the screen, you may have to check the xbox and make sure you have it setup to output a HD signal. Let me knwo what you find.

You may have a failig tuner, can you get me a pic of the screen? Does it have a analog tuner or digital or both? If its an analog tuner I wouldnt worry about because after february of next year all over air signals will be digital.

There must be a bad board somewhere, sounds to me like a board has shorted and it has gone into a self protection mode. Start at the power supply and remove connections, if you can check and make sure that you are getting the correct voltages out of the power supply, look for anything that may be blown or blackened, specifically fuses. Let me knwo what u find.

check continuity from the connector for the horizontal yoke (red and black wires), to ground, if you have continuity one of the ground ******** the crt's is touching the yoke.

you can't, you have to use the rca jacks for the audio they should be by the DVI connector.

if the tv is a "DLP" the "color wheel" is going bad, check the model # to get the right part

the power supply finaly quit, it need service, problably the "doubler" circuit is out.

then your tv will need repair , as a video processing circut has failed , this is happening alot to these tv's
you will need to call a local repair shop to have a tech come out and test it to determine the cause
