There is a large black area in the upper left hand
If it is a square box, it is usually a text box. It can be fixed by turning closed captioning off. Either hit the CC button on the remote until off appears. Or go in to the menu find closed captioning or text and turn off. If it is not a defined box, it could be something inside the tv.
I have an RCA D40W20 tv. I have the vcr/dvd
Ty using the zoom settings on the TV or the dvd player, also check the inputs by testing the tv with free to air or another input to determine if its the tv or the dvd player. Good Luck.

First try cleaning front Panel contact switches if cleaning them does not work then replace all 7 of them. Call Mats 1-800-628-1118 contacts are your Off/on ch- ch+ vol- vol+ menu button
Heard a pop like a bulb blowing and can only get
It could have a arcing Hv Block or a something arcing on the Deflection Board. If the crackling noise is louder in the rear of the set, the Deflection Board is probably the cause. You can usually confirm by removing the lower back cabinet and observing the board on the left side. If you see any arcing at all, the board needs replacing. You can call Encompass Elect. for ordering the board at 1800-638-3328.

These units were going for about $900 at one time a few years ago. That is a hard one to answer. Prices vary greatly from one retailer to another. Thanks
RCA 42in. Projection TV will not turn on.
check the fuse on the Main filter board ( The board where the power cord attaches to) as that fuse can often be blown and that will cause the set to be completely dead.

Tv won,t come on now
i have a kp51ws520 that i just fixed. it blinked 9 times. found out it was the g board. got it done pretty cheap . let me know if you need more info.
While watching tv, the tv all sudden goes snowy, no sound, and have to turn it off and back on to make it work again
Connect up another set right next to that set thats going out to make sure the cable or that line is not bad. It soukds as though you may have an intermittant tuner assembly inside the TV set. Its also a possablity that there could be a bad solder connectiuon in or around the tuner assembley. Not really a job for the user, as this set has hot and cold chassis, and can give a mean shock if you do not have the know how to work on these monsters. good Luck
