If it was badly overheated, do yourself a favor and check compression before you do anything else, to be sure you don't have serious internal damage, in which case furthur diagnostics couldbe misleading. Fuel, compression and spark, always check these basicsfirst when a gasoline engine cranks but will not start.

Where do i put water in a Nissan Micra 1997 reg 1000cc

hello, first you should not be putting just plain water in anything. if you are filling the radiator you should use a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water. you can purchase it at any auto parts store or even at wal mart. you can get it allready mixed for your convinience. you will add the coolant to either the radiator or the coolant resevior, depending on how empty the system is. you can look in your owners manual to find a picture of the coolant resevior. if you do no have one the radiator is in the front of the car with a small oval cap at the passenger side, do not open this cap when the car is hot! There should be a small hose going to a little clear tank on the passenger side, this is the resevior, fill it till the cold mark. good luck

2007 mercury milan V6 Car wont start. Jumped it

Remove the lugs at the battery. Clean the posts and the lugs - then reconnect. Your battery won't charge (and the jumpers won't work) largely because of a film on the + post and lug. If you live in a hot summer area, (Arizona) the problem is especially troublesome.

Overheating

You have an air lock in the cooling system.
Do this: pull upper radiator hose off the radiator leaving it connected to the block, pour coolant into hose until filled ( you might have to do it to the radiator also). Once filled reconnected hose back to the radiator, then fill resevior to proper level. Start car turn heater on full. Let car run with cap off resevior until it starts pulling coolant in. Once warmed up shut car off let cool. Check fluid level again.
