2003 Nissan Altima

My car been at Nissan Dealer for vibration noise while in drive at a complete stop, goes away in idle mode.

They replaced the belt, tension-er, alternator, couple motor mounts and still not fixed yet.

Any suggestions what can I do to fix this problem?

I have the same problem - Altima 2.4 (2003) Idles perfect in park, but put it in drive and hold the brake and the steering wheel vibrates. Thought it was a motor mount, but mounts didn't fix it. I pulled the intake manifold and checked butterfly valves and they were all good. Cleaned the MAF & throttle body & relearned the air idle control, changed the spark plugs, took it to the dealership and had the computer completely reprogramed. Took the pre cat off and removed the cone (to fix the problem where the cone comes apart and gets sucked up into the head - messing up the valves and rings) None of this fixed problem. The car isnt giving any trouble codes either. Im wondering if something is wrong in the transmission or maybe the streering column itself ?? Also can some of the sensors have a problem without giving a code ??

Check your exhaust system, some bolts used to loose or gone on Altima 02-06. Especially check the bolt close to the joint between exhaust manifold and front pipe. Check if your sway bar rubbing your exhaust pipe.

My car makes a droning or humming sound around 2000 rpm along with vibration but it goes away as soon as I increase the speed or come to a stop.

could be the timing belt tensioner. with the timing casing removed place a socket extension bar on some metal then to your ear as it will help you locate the noise. be careful tho. failing that big end shells i would check. hope this helps

2005 Nissan Altima makes rattling/vibration noise

It is possible that you have some timing chain noise, especially if you have the 3.5L engine. The secondary timing chain tensioners on the 3.5 have a known problem, Nissan has issued a service bulletin regarding this and there is an updated part to replace them. It is not a cheap job, but your dealer may give you some "goodwill" depending on your mileage. If you have the 2.5L the problem may a couple of other things...even more serious! They had catalytic converters that came apart and got ingested into the engine, eventually destroying it. Try googling "Altima rattle" and include your engine size in the search. There is a ton of info on the net about noises in these cars.

1993 nissan altima what could be causing a screeching

It probably is a belt. You should look under the hood and check for a loose belt. Tighten as necessary. You should not be able to deflect the belt more than 1/2" in the center of the span of the belt.

Brakes will also make a screeching noise when they are worn out. This noise will also go away when you stop (of course). The sound is quite different than the belt sound.

99 Altima with 190k miles warbling noise

It sounds like your water pump is going it usually vibrates throughout everything if it was your alternator it would show signs with your power the easiest way would to take your belt off remembering the belt route and spin the alternator pulley and the water pump pulley to see if they spin freely without noise

Hi my name is sandy, my 03 nissan altima has a problem with the belt tensioner I went to a auto part and bought one there. didn't work. and then went to the dealer and bought another tensioner, it works...

Hi Sandy

Sounds like the belt is loose, the belt for your ac will be connected to the tensioner. If they have had to change the tensioner then they may have not correctly aligned the belts or even left an engine mount loose. it sounds like a simple fix but get it check at the garage that done the work. at the end of the day you have paid them so make sure they have done the job correctly.

2002 nissan altima revs up while idle

I had the same problem, you can replace both the acc band and the band tensor, the vibration comes from a loose band.

Why does my car vibrate and noisy at red light and stop sign

My rio kia bought on from uyi technical dealer in benin city, edo state of nigeria only 4 months ago is vibrating with noise while driving. The noise is noticed by other road users even in motion, making a very loud noise or sound that is highly embarrassing. The dealer mechanics have checked more than twice yet no result, instead the hub bearing is observed; tyres are turn over yet the noise persists.

02 altima belt noise

OK, went through the exact same thing this week. Put on a new belt, checked for proper seating, etc, etc. and that wasn't it. Read all through this site and others and it comes down to one of two things, the tension pulley assembly or the compressor itself. Seeing as compressors ran about $300 or so and the pully assembly is less than $50 and takes about 45 min to an hour to replace, I did that first. And for me, that was it. Tip for replacing the pulley assembly? Have a wide variety of sockets (depth) and extensions.
