I am using a Nikon

try to see if the scanner is present in the device manager and if it is ,,to be installed and not in yellow,,
if a driver for windows wasn't provided it means that the driver is included in the software ..so try to update it and be sure that it is the one suitable for the operation system you use..
Here is the support site where you can check and read all trouble shooting issues that may occur ...
http://www.nikonusa.com/Service-And-Support/index.page
cause the error specifies that it is a hardware related error ..I think that it worth to go to bios of the pc...and activate the feature called optimal factory defaults...and after that save all changes by pressing F10
The thing that I try to underline is that may be a problem with a disabled bus...if it uses a firewire..or another like thi s..and the action will enable all buses if they were disabled by default or ..by other causes..

Hello, I've and old coolscab III

Hi.

There is no support or driver available for this scanner. The scanner is SCSI and does not need a driver in order to work.Nikon never manufactured or distributed Windows drivers, they discontinued distribution of manual and old controlling software. Here the minimal support page.

To have the scanner working in XP you need to install ASPI driver, then manually install drivers using file NkScnXP.inf, held in hidden folder INF/LS2000/WinXP.
Pretty much the same with Win 7, you may have to use compatibility mode with 7.

You will still need a SCSI card to connect the Centronic 50 Pin cable to scanner and to manage the scanner. This kind of devices may give a lot of headaches with newer systems.

To install files, refer to the discussion below.

Your recent reply said to go ahead with the

this is not the reason ..If something should have been wrong with the program and the matching with the operation system ..the software would not been installed at all ..but rejected by the operation system ..
The issue was during the installation probably you did not payed attention when the little cases had to be ticked for to place icon on desktop ..or in the dock ..
Look for the program by the name into the apple menu ..programs....and make a short cut on the desktop when you find it ..or ..unlock the dock ..by right click on it ..and unlock ..than add a new item ...by browsing into the programs for that program ..
But the easy way is to just locate it ..by looking into programs folder or into the apple menu ..and click it from there ..
or ..just search for it ..by name ..

Can not remove film tray from scanner

I have turned off the power and then used a wire hook manufactured out of a coat hanger to pull it out. My problem is not with it getting caught but with trouble locking the film in place. Any problem or solution for that?

Nonsense. Nikon's own site says their scanners don't support Windows7 and suggests using third party software.

I have a Nikon Coolscann 8000 and a Mac computer.

I have successfully downloaded NikonScan 4.2 on my MacPro running Snow Leopard (10.6.6) and my Nikon LS8000ED seems to work fine. I ran a test scan and it worked with no problem.

Scanner has worked beautifully.

When this happens it means that one of the Spectral Elements in the Scan head, or receiver has failed, or perhaps the color "Filter" has failed. In any even, it is not really something that can be repaired at home. To repair this, and attend to any of those problems, special calibration equipment is required to calibrate the replacement parts. Sometime other "Driver" problems can "Mimic" these hardware faults, so first we must see that it isn't a Driver problem
Remove and reinstall all USB controllers To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK. Click the Hardware tab. Click the Device Manager button. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time. Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers. Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved. Now AFTER doing that and rebooting, INSTALL the Software all again, if/when asked plug in you unit, BUT NOT before. IF NOT asked. just install the software and drivers, reboot, and then plug in the USB, cable, It still may ask for "Drivers" or just install them, if asked, point it to the location. If you do all this and it is still the same, then you have a hardware fault as first indicated. You will need to find a Nikon, repair agent, and ask for a "Quote" for any repair, this way you can decide to repair or replace.

  5. Disconnect Coolscan USB cable. Reinstall the Coolscan software. Connect back the scanner when asked by software setup.
  6. If all that does not work, then test the scanner on a different computer (install software Before connecting), and let us know.

Cannot install Super Coolscan 5000

Hi,

There have recently been few announcements regarding the Windows 7 compatibility program that Nilkon is working on, so nothing directly would be available for now.

You still have couple of option that will help your scanner work with Windows7:
Microsoft SilverFast is Windows 7 compatible: The detail can be viewed below
http://www.silverfast.com/show/windows7/en.html
Also I appear to have found a way to get the Nikon Coolscan V ED to work in Windows 7 beta 64 bit, but it requires that you have a copy of Vuescan and that neither Nikon Scan nor the Nikon drivers are installed.

Step one - Attach the scanner to the PC and ensure that it is switched on.
Step two - Install the latest copy of Vuescan ( 8.5 ). http://download.cnet.com/VueScan/3000-2118_4-11093698.html

Step Three - Open "Device Manager" and Right click on "Nikon LS 50".
Step Four - Choose "Update Driver Software" and, in the box that appears, choose "Browse my computer for driver software".
Step Five - Navigate to the "Vuescan" folder, make sure that "Include subfolders" is ticked and click next.
Step Six - If your as lucky as I was, everything will install without a hitch and your good to go.

You may also need, on the "Input" tab, to point the software at the LS-50 ( I didn't find it to be necessary, but you never know - if there's one thing I've discovered, to my cost, it's that scanners can be terribly temperamental )

Please let me know if the provided information has been helpful.

I would like to connect my old SCSI coolscan iii

If your macbook doesn't have the correct SCSI card (SCSI II - d-sub mini 50 pin x2 connector) installed, you aren't going to be able to do this. You will need to find this SCSI card and install it in a computer that will accept it.

Do you have the Vista Drivers for the Artec e+48u

You can try this solution, but it may not work. As of this time there is no support for your scanner with Vista from the manufactuar.

1) download the xp version driver by going to this link and choosing the Full Version.

http://artectv.com/Service_e/nl/home/Old_drivers.htm

2) right click the exe icon.
select properties , then compatibility and choose xp service pack 2.

Right click again and RUN as administrator
allow this program to run even though it has not been aproved by microsoft.

3) go to c:/windows/twain_32/ePlusPro/Scan32.exe
right click SCAN32.exe
select properties, then compatibility and choose XP service pack .
Right click again and RUN as administrator.

I actually created a shortcut to the desktop of scan32.exe.

Now everytime i click on this..........my artec e+pro scanner work absolutely fine.

The only problem is none of the shortcut butons work on the front of the scanner , but you can choose where to save the image to through the Twain program, then edit it it whatever program you require.

Trying to install Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED,

I do not believe Nikon made drivers specifically for Vista, but you can use the solution here to make your own driver "inf" file and install some that will work anyway. Please read this and carefully follow the directions. If you are using 32 bit, use the 32 bit drivers. If 64 bit, then 64 bit drivers, when creating the new inf.
