My nat setting is set

Well if your trying to set nat type for Black Ops Moderate is about the best you can get while in the game, I get open once in a while majority of the time it is moderate. But here is how you get the best possible connection. 1st enter your router usually 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1 What you want to do is get your router information, DNS, Default Gateway, and Route Address.// Now you go into your gaming system and go to internet connection setup. You will want to give your System a static IP usually something along the lines of 192.168.2.160 or 192.168.1.160 notice the possition of the 2 or the 1 depending on your router IP if its a 1 use 1 if its a 2 use a 2.// Enter all the information from the router to the gaming system. Now 1 more step before you go online go into your routers gaming and applications setup go to DMZ and whatever IP you gave your system make sure you put the same in the DMZ of the router. now what you want to do is restart the router so it takes the changes once you save it. Now restart your machine as well once you have it all saved and bring it all back up.. Happy Gaming and hope this helps you out.

How do I get xbox

Do you mean a wireless adaptor or the router ?
The router will work but the adaptor will not.

If it is the ROUTER then if you wish to give me the specific model i will dig out those steps needed.

Again if it is just a netopia wireless adaptor then that is a NO-GO

How can I tell whether my R6100 router is working?

Your router has several light on the front that indicate what the current status of your connection is. Make sure to check your manual to see what your router is trying to tell you.
As far as the splitter or router issues are concerned: you should use a splitter on an ADSL connection. You won't really need one if you don't have a telephone line, but it's best to use one. Also, don't forget you can also try to hook up your router to a friend's connection and see if you're getting issues with that router on a different line as well.
If you're still clueless after this, don't forget that most ISP's won't charge you if there does happen to be a problem with your telephone line. Make sure you check your ISP's policy regarding that.

My roommate just moved in

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.
Check the IP address and the Default gateway on the computer.

For Windows XP

START ==> RUN ==> type in cmd in the RUN box==> click OK or Hit ENTER . You will see a black window that is a command prompt . In the black window type in " ipconfig " ==> and Hit ENTER on your key board .

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

For MAC OS

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.

How do i forward a

http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/technotes/NQG_025.html
Server List (Port Forwarding) NQG_025 With NAT enabled, the IP addresses of nodes on your LAN are private since they are hidden from the Internet. IP Servers let you pass specific types of network traffic through the Netopia router's NAT interfaces. Once configured, selected types of network traffic, such as FTP requests or HTTP (Web) connections, will be forwarded to a specific host or server behind the Netopia router. Please Note: From the LAN (Local Area Network), you will also be able to access the servers that are responding to requests from the internet, but only using the internal private IP address. Access via the public IP address is not supported from a local ethernet connection. If your ISP is routing you multiple public IP addresses, you can also configure the router to forward all ports in one public IP to a designated private IP address on your LAN via Easy PAT List entries. For those instructions, see Quick Guide NQG_024: IP Mapping (Address Forwarding).
Please Note: If your router is currently running Netopia Residential Firmware with a web "GUI" configuration menu, this technote is not applicable to you. Most 3300 Series Netopia Gateways can be upgraded to Enterprise level firmware. Click Here! to purchase the upgrade key.

Before You Start
Telnet into the Netopia router's Main Menu at 192.168.1.1 (if using the default IP setting). If your network has a different IP addressing scheme, modify this accordingly. Click Here! for instructions on using telnet and Hyperterminal (serial connection).
Login with the user name and password. The Superuser login is required to save changes. If you are unsure of this, contact your network administrator.
Don't forget to press the Enter key to save any entries. Hitting the back space, delete or tab without first hitting enter will undo any changes.
The Esc key will take you back towards the main menu screen.
Once you have completed your configuration, you should reboot the Netopia to save and apply your changes.

The Netopia Main Menu Interface

Server List Configuration

  1. From the Main Menu of router console screens, go to Quick Menus, and select Network Address Translation.
  2. Select Show/Change Server List.
  3. Select Easy-Servers.
  4. From the Show/Change NAT Server List screen, select Add Server.
  5. Select Service and the service and port you want to allow. If your service and port are not available in the pull-down menu, select Other. Selecting Other will allow you to enter a specific service port or a range of ports since fields are provided for both a First Port Number and a Last Port Number. To allow a specific service port, the First Port Number and Last Port Number should be the same. Select Okay.
  6. Next, enter the Server Private IP Address, or the private IP address of the host/server you are forwarding the service to, and the Public IP Address you want to associate with the same host/server. This value can be left set to 0.0.0.0 if you are using the WAN IP as the Public IP address. Note: If your ISP is routing you multiple static IP addresses, other then the one used for Internet access, you may create more than one server for specific service as long as all servers have a different Public IP Address specified. For example, with two web servers on your LAN you would need to create two Server List entries for TCP 80 (www-http). Since each specific port (service) can only be mapped once using any given Public IP Address, a distinct public address must be used for each TCP 80 server list entry. It is not necessary for you to specify more than one Local WAN IP Address or Public IP Address in your router's configuration. As long as you are connecting to your ISP via a public IP address used for NAT, they are responsible for routing all other IP addresses via that connection.

Conclusion
You have now configured your router for TCP/UDP port forwarding. If you have a switched connection (ISDN or Analog), you will need to either disconnect and reconnect your Internet connection, or restart your router for the Nat Server List changes to take effect. If you wish to filter traffic for your static IP mappings, please see the following Netopia Technote:
NQG_039: NAT and the Basic Firewall

Not true. Any wireless b/g adapter will work -- and that's only if you need wireless, i.e., the router has 6 or 7 wired ports, also.
Further, I'm having a problem finding software that'll work with the Netopia device under Ubuntu (that's what I'm doing here :-)
