Look on the power supply for swollen capacitors. YOU will normally see 2 . replace with new ones. Also look at the heavy white wire that comes from the power supply, this would be your supply to lamps. I have had these burn and cause this defect.

There are several caps on the board. How do I know which caps to replace? How can I tell if they are swollen as it does not look like it to me?
IF and I stress IF the problem is Capacitors.. you will clearly see the top of them swollen . NOT flat. IF the Capacitors are not swollen you may just have a bad power supply board. These boards when part of a complete unit, the silver case you have to take out. BUT shop Jimmy sells the power supply by it self. The power supply is the top board in the can asyy.
Do you have a pic of this board? I only have two boards from what I can tell one board is where the power plugs into the tv via a heavy white wire and heavy black wire going over to what I believe is the power supply board?
That would be the power supply board . I have checked with our Poloroid parts distributor. AS we are a poloroid repair company. AS of today, no parts are available for this set. I even checked 3rd party shop jimmy.. he also has no parts. I f you care to check back with me later I will try and find one. I just reparied one of these 2 weeks ago but I do not recall the location of the caps. I just know that they cold easily be found by looking for the rounded top. I believe they are 1000 mfd at 10 volts .
were they under a heat sink case or out in the open? Also what color were they? brown?
Out in open and I have seen both brown and blue. IF is is a cap issue.. they will be swollen compared to the others on the board. THE top will be bubbled up. IT will be obvious
