My Haier HWMP55-918 5.5 kg washing machine washes as normal and drains but won't spin

Some top load washers use a direct drive motor coupling to transfer power from the motor to the transmission. The drive coupling connects the motor to the transmission and consists of two plastic drive forks with a rubber coupling between them. One of the drive forks is attached to the drive motor shaft and the other is attached to the transmission input shaft. As the motor shaft rotates, the rubber coupling between the drive forks absorbs the torque to prevent the forks from breaking. Normal use will create wear on the coupling and eventually the drive forks may slip and not engage the transmission and clutch. A common symptom of a failing motor coupling is that the washing machine fills and drains normally but will not agitate or spin. Most models will require you to remove the cabinet to access the drive coupler. Disconnect power from the appliance before attempting any repairs.

My Bosch dishwasher SHX 46a 05uc will not pump the water out when done with the wash cycle or rinse cycle

Hello,

1 Remove the pump and drive motor. You willfind two plastic and one rubber motor couplings. One is located on the drivemotor and the other is on the gear case with the rubber coupling between them.
2 Pry or break the old couplings off with your screwdriver. Replace with newcouplings. Simply push one onto the shaft of the gear case and press the secondone onto the shaft of the drive motor.
3 Line up the holes of the rubber isolation coupling with the studs in thecoupling. Push the rubber isolation coupling in place.
4 Push the isolation and coupling on the drive motor making sure that theholes line up with the studs on the other coupling on the gear case. · 5 Reinstall the drive motor and then snap the pump in place with the retainersto hold it in place. Reconnect the hoses with the clamps and snap the.Put thewasher back on and screw the back in place. Position the washer where you hadit before and plug the washer in.

Will not spin and drain water out.

afew things it could be... first i would check the lid switch if the lid switch has failed it will not allow it to spin or drain... if the lid switch is good check under unit by tilting back if this is a direct drive unit which i believe it is it will have a drive coupling in it between the transmission and motor. this is what turns pump assembly and tub and if broke it will not work... if you start unit do you hear anything like it is trying to run just not turning if so then most likely going to be drive coupling it is located between transmission and motor plastic piece with a black piece of rubber between the two plastic pieces there are 3 prongs on each piece of the coupling and they shear when unit has gotten in a bind, heavy load or just after age... if you are not hearing anything when u turn on washer the check lid switch repost with anymore questions

Agitator and spin did not work on final spin cycle--pump works--11 year old washer--is it worth trying to fix?

yeah this is an easy fix drive couple it connects the motor to the transmission cost about 9 dollars if you do the job yourslef simpl unpug the machine
remove the front cover that covers the drum
feel around inbetween the motor and the transmission you should feel a rubber bushing with three teeth if these teeth are busted in which they usually are then you replace your drive couple and u go about that by
removing the retainin clips around your pump then moving pump to the side no need to disconnect fully. next remove the upper and lower screws holding the retaining clips on the upper and lower part of the motor. disconnect wireing harness. then use a flat screwdriver to lift on the upper retaining clip and do oppiste on lower one make sure you hold the motor up with one hand while doing this then remove motor you will see the rubber bushing as well as the plastic drive couple ( note make sure when you order the new drive couple it is the one with the metal shaft ring and not the 100 percent plastic one or ull be doing the same job within two years putting it back together is easy just align the drive couple on the rear shaft and lightly tap it back onto the shaft use a 1/2 or 9/16 deep well to do this then align the rubber bushing next is to align the other part of the couple onto the motor and reinstall the motor then reinstall the pump then reconnect the harness to the motr then put your cover back on and your machine is done hope this helps

Can't get the drive coupling off my Bosch Universal to replace it

I have had my Bosch Universal Mixer with the Blender and Food Processor Attachments since 2005, and I've loved it since the day I got it... that is, until the blender broke while my son was crushing ice to make slushies...

I figured out the "drive coupler" was stripped and needed replacing, but I couldn't figure out how to take apart the "blade assembly" which includes the "drive coupler" part...

My retailer, Pleasant Hill Grain, sent me the following email:

"I am not aware of any printed instructions for removing the old coupling and
replacing with the new. We recommend holding on to the blades with 1 hand and a
towel and using a needle nose pliers to unscrew the old coupling. You would put
the new coupling on in the same manner.
If these instructions do not work, I would suggest contacting the Service
Dept at Kitchen Resources in Utah. Their phone is 800-692-6724."

I still couldn't figure out how to take apart the blade assembly, so I did end up calling the distributor, Kitchen Resources...

Dave, the tech @ Kitchen Resources, answered my call on the first ring...

Once I explained my problem, he started giving me the same instructions Pleasant Hill Grain gave
me... I explained to him that holding the blades tightly wasn't working for me.

As it turned out, holding the blades did not secure the drive shaft because
the drive shaft was broken off INSIDE the blade assembly - which is why I could
not unscrew the old drive coupling part.

Dave's next question revealed the true issue at hand... my Blender Attachment has the blade assembly made of plastic - they switched to plastic
in 2005 because the metal assembly turned black in dishwashers.

Bosch just recently went back to using metal for this part - apparently the
plastic blade assembly didn't hold up.

Kitchen Resources - the U.S. Bosch Distributor - is sending me a new blade
assembly - no charge, he said it's covered under warranty. Woo Hoo!

Best of all, I hadn't yet purchased the replacement drive coupling part, because
I wanted to know how to go about replacing the part before ordering a new part.

With shipping this part would have been a $50+ repair - you have to love
customer service of that caliber!

[Aside: You really don't need to ever put this part in the dishwasher - wash
the inside with by putting hot water and perhaps a little dish detergent inside
the blender and turning it on - rinse the outside under the sink... no
dishwasher needed! ]

Can't get drive coupling off bosch unversal blender blade fixture

what you need to do is hold the blades with a towel to protect your hand, then, use a visegrips needle nose to grab the coupling (pushing the guard down) and twist it loose. It may be very tight, when I loosened mine, the plastic portion of the coupling pulled off leaving the metal "nut" tight to the shaft. Either way, remove the coupling/nut in the standard "lefty loosey" direction. Many thanks to the people at pleasanthillgrain.com for walking me through the process. Blessings to you.
