Please follow this link and well you would have your ink cartridges replaced without a problem.

Otherwise this is what you do

Step one: Remove the old cartridge

  1. Press the Power button ( How do I remove and - c01983533.gif ) to turn on the HP product.
  2. Open the front access door. The carriage moves to the far right side of the HP product. CAUTION: If the HP product is off when the front access door is opened, the HP product will not release the cartridges. Figure 1: Open the front access doorc01429211.gif
  3. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on a cartridge to release it.
    • To replace the tri-color cartridge, remove the cartridge from the slot on the left.
    • To replace the black cartridge, remove the cartridge from the slot on the right. Figure 2: Remove the black cartridge
  4. Pull the cartridge toward you and out of its slot.
Step two: Prepare the new cartridge Use the following steps to prepare the new cartridge for use in the HP product. Which cartridges you use depends on your country or region. To check the cartridge compatibility for your product, right-click this link, HP SureSupply , and then click Open in New Window . If your language or country does not display nextHow do I remove and - c01906983.gif icon (c01906983.gif ) select your language and location.
  1. Remove the new cartridge from its packaging. Be careful to touch only the black plastic.
  2. Step three: Replace the old cartridge Use the following steps to replace the old cartridge.
  1. Hold the new cartridge with the HP logo on top, and then slide the cartridge at a slight upward angle into the empty cartridge slot. Push the cartridge in firmly until it snaps into place.
    • To install a tri-color cartridge, insert it into the left slot.
    • To install a black How do I remove and - c01429213.gifsert it into the right slot. Figure 5: Insert the black cartridgec01429213.gif
  2. Close the front access door.
  3. An alignment page prints. You do not need to do anything with this page yet. Continue to the next step.
Step four: Place the unused cartridge in a cartridge protector If you are temporarily removing a working cartridge (for instance, removing a black cartridge in order to install a photo cartridge), put the cartridge that you are not using in a cartridge protector. NOTE: Cartridge protectors come only with photo cartridges. If a cartridge protector is unavailable, store the unused cartridge in a rigid, airtight container (not a plastic bag). If unprotected, the cartridge can dry out and become unsuitable for use. Step five: Align the new cartridge The HP product prints a cartridge alignment sheet when you install new cartridges.
  1. When prompted, load unused, plain white, U.S. letter or A4 sized paper into the input tray, and then press OK on the HP product control panel.
  2. Lift the scanner lid.
  3. Place the alignment sheet on the scanner glass so that the top of the sheet is on the right side with the text facing down. Make sure that the sheet is aligned with the right front corner of the scanner glass. Figure 6: Place the alignment sheet on the scanner glass
  4. Close the scanner lid, and then press OK on the HP product control panel. The HP product aligns the cartridges.

HP842C continues to print with nothing on the paper but a line across the top of letters and numbers. The orange light will not go off. There was a paper jam which I removed then paper continued going...

Check your Catridges, they might be dried up if new, or empty, Remove them shake them to feel a presence of ink or tap them on a piece of paper to verify if ink will comeout if not then they are empty and need to be replaced they they have a bit of ink you need to shake and try printing again if this persists change the catridges, also make sure that the Printer is Clean, verify the Catridge Carrier for any dry ink deposits.

Replaced color cartiage, now only one color prints, red? Help

Try to check the level of your ink in your color catridge maybe is running low or empty then if its empty then remove the catridge then replace another color catridge full of ink then run your printer again. If you successfully installed new ink catridge then it will automatically reset the level of your ink monitor to full.

Ink system failure. Trouble shooting did not help. cleaned the cartidges and also brand new one replaced. it jus will not get off the ink system failure even when we turn it off and back on!!

Take out both the catridges from the Printer......... Take 2 Paper Towels one should be wet with Luke warm water and the other one should be dry........... Take the Colour catridge first turn it upside down and u will see a small copper plate on the catridge from where the ink comes out....... Place the wet paper towel using ur thumb on the Copper plate and press it a lit bit for 10 Seconds...... Now remove it and see whether u see any ink on the paper towel.......... U should see some ink on it now place the dry paper towel on the ink catridge in the same way........ Now do the same procedure again.......... Do the same procedure twice on the Black Catridge................. Now take the dry paper towel and turn the direction of the cartridge so that u can see a Copper plate on it with small boxes just clean that copper plate with the Dry Paper Towel.......... Know insert both the catridges inside the Printer.
Good Luck :)

My printer keep saying check the Remove and checkright cartridge.

thats to say theres a problem with ry right catridge it might be from the ink or catridge head or may be u may need to insert it properly.
so try replacing the right ink, if the problem continues, i will suspect the catridge head.

Lexmark 3470, new ink dosn't work.

In this case as u said u used this Catridges in 2 printers then check if u have removed the Transparent Strip from the catridges mand if it is removed and still u face this problem make sure u have inserted the Catridges in the right slot........ U need to insert the colour catridge on the right side and the black catridge should go on the left side.... If no go get the catridges replaced....... Good Luck.......
