SOURCE: Ice dispenser only dispenses crushed ice
THE WAY A DISPENSER CHANGES FROM CUBES TO CRUSHED ICE IS BY RAISING AN ARM THAT RUNS ALONG THE BOTTOM OF THE ICE BIN. IF IT SETS FOR A LONG TIME, IT CAN GET A BUILUP OF FROST OR ICE THAT KEEPS IT FROM MOVING. PULL THE ICE BIN OUT AND TRY TWISTING THE END OF THE ARM MANUALLY. IT SHOULD OPEN A DOOR AT THE FRONT OF THE BIN THAT WOULD ALLOW THE ICE TO BYPASS THE CUTTER ASSEMBLY.
ALSO,WITH THE ICE BIN REMOVED, PUSH THE DOOR SWITCH BUTTON CLOSED BUT KEEP THE FREEZER DOOR OPEN. WHERE THAT ARM GOES IN THROUGH THE BACK WALL, CHECK FOR MOVEMENT OF A ROD UPWARD WHEN YOU CALL FOR CUBED ICE. IF YOU HEAR A LOUD HUM BUT THE ROD DOESN'T MOVE, YOU MAY NEED TO REPLACE THE SOLENOID ASSEMBLY IN THAT MODULE.
SOURCE: icemaker only dispenses crushed ice, not cubes
yea! I have been without cubes for 2 years. I slid out the tray, found the lever in the back where the rod went in, pulled it down, reinserted the ice tray, and IT WORKED! At first I thought I broke the lever, because I had to hold it down with a knife while I was inserting the tray, but it just must have been stuck. I am soooo happy!
SOURCE: Ice maker stopped after electric shutoff
You may have a problem with the computer control board in the ice maker. Try this. Turn off the icemaker for about 2 minutes.
Turn on the ice maker and press the clear button. Press and hold this button for 12 seconds to get it to force extract. This will confirm that the motors will work and push the ice cubes out. Afterwards, let it run by itself. If it still doesn't make ice, you will need to replace the icemaker.

Colenoid in the ice dispenser may be clogged or have a small amount of trash in it. Is there a filter on before the fridge (just after the ice maker shutoff)?
SOURCE: ice dispenser will not switch back to cubed from crushed
Had the same problem, dispenser stuck on crushed ice, even when cubed ice is selected. There is a magnetic switch behind the panel where the motor for the ice dispenser is. It gets water in it and freezes so it is not free to go up and down. It is always down for crushed, but for cubed ice, the magnet pulls it up. when it's frozen with ice, all you'll get is crushed. You'll have to defrost it. You can defrost the whole freezer, but better to just remove the ice dispenser and defrost that. Three 1/4'' bolts hold secure it. You'll have to unplug the wires from the back of the freezer to remove the unit. The just let it defrost and dry. You can remove the switch from the panel and dry it out too. I've had to to this several times and am looking for a solution to keeping water out of the thing so it won't freeze again. Has anybody solved that?
