I have an admiral HMG19149 refrgerator with an ice maker. my problem is that the ice tast horable and cant be used. I looked for a filter to change but can't find it. Please help

To verify if its the valve or the ice maker the easiest way would be to unplug the machine and then turn the water on. If the water stops, then the ice maker is bad and is continuously applying power to the valve causing the flood problem and should be changed. If the water keeps on coming out then the valve is bad and stuck open and should be changed. in most self defrosting refrigerators..when the fresh food is warm, but freezer is ok...the first thing to look at is...a frosted or froze over evaporator in freezer. this is because, the cold air comes from freezer into ff section. it comes in and drops to floor of ff and is drawn back into freezer thru coil and if its frozen,,,no air can circulate...remove rear freezer panel and look for ice blockage

There are several other things. A fan motor not coming on will do this.. a stuck closed baffle in ff section can keep air out. check it and if froze up..there is a reason, and you need to find out why or it will happen again...check heater, defrost thermostat, check defrost control

check for plugged drain at back bottom of freezer if plugged/frozen over defrost and clear with hot water and remove all ice.

It sounds like you have a broken place in the door gasket that is allowing warm air to enter the freezer.

you can usually adjust he thermostat inside the fridge.... can be located anywhere. Try checking the manual if you still got it.
