Hello,

There are two ways of solving this type of problem, here are the way out to solve it below
please carefully follow this instruction below

1) On these units they have a self resetting device that you will need to activate this is done by unplugging the oven for at least one hour then plugging it back in and wait for 5 min then press the normal cancel button or you might even hear a click sound then you will be allowed to unlock it ok and close the door hope this helps you out

2) IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com
The only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock.
IF the self clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the washer to cool down before the lock can un-lock (safety feature)

thank
you and thanks for using fixya.

Check if the program has finished and returned to release. If not the latch wont operate.

GLTF1240ASO Front Door Won't Lock/Close

Most probably your door lock is damaged. You are not supposed to force it open, you have to wait for at least 2 minutes (or till the lock sign is off) after the wash is over to open the door, never force it.
You can just google your model number and search for parts to obtain it. It is quite possible you can change it yourself. See that the line is disconnected from the mains.

The doors will not lock or unlock from the door but will from the remote?

The title suggest the door won't unlock unless the remote is used but during the summer it was the inverse. If while inside the car the doors will not lock or unlock from the door but will from the remote then you have a faulty switch. If while outside the car the key turns while in the lock but the door won't lock or unlock then the linkage at the end of the lock is faulty. You'll need to remove the door inside plate to check this.

The oven door won't close all the way. The "lock" light on the upper left is on. No amount of fiddling has solved this problem and oven is unusable. Help please!

Hi

The door lock assembly is bad and should be replaced, you can try to move it but that won't help and will have to be replaced to solve this issue. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Lock won`t open

Look for a button or sensor which turns the light off or which the door would press when closed.
If you find it hold it down for a minute, then let go this should reset the lock
