My hp pavilion f50 15in monitor is dark and i can barely see anything on it

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. Are you saying the lcd screen is black? It seems like it booted up but nothing appears on the screen?

Problaly you had a magnet near by that caused that Dark Shadow.

Sounds as if the backlight on that lcd monitor is bad. Parts aren't available for it so the monitor would have to be replaced.

If turning up the brightness hasn't helped then the lcd is likely going to fail soon.

option 1: hook it up to an external monitor.
option 2: Look for a replacement lcd on e-bay
option 3: Get a new laptop

HP will charge a lot for the display if they even still stock it.

do u have a external monitor,connect it up and see whether,u r output is any better..

well seems like the lcd has lost or the video card has an issue easy way to find out is to hook it up to a monitor and if the pitcure comes out fine then its your lcd screen and if it appears the same then its your video card.
