HP Pavilion F50 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor Questions & Answers
I have just bought a
The PC might have a bad VGA output - it should work at the default level without the driver. I'd return the PC to the store. If you have another monitor, try it out to verify the VGA output is bad.
No picture at all. speakers work though.
gstanz52, Oh, Oh, looks like someone needs a new wide screen lcd monitor!!! What is the "date of manufacture" from the rear label???? Maybe the "black screen of death" has finally caught up with your 6 to 8 year old lcd monitor. I would guess that the internal electronic ballast circuit (inverter) has failed and will not supply 500 to 1000 vac to light-up the cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" any more!!! Next thing to do is go HERE:
http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ Do some reading to determine if a possible DIY refurbishment of your unit is in your future. If you want to try refurbishing unit, then do some reading in the fixya profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" (me) for more information and or do comment to this post. Then you should watch some video clips at YOUTUBE of owners/ technicians disassembling and repairing typical CCFL back-lit lcd monitors.
My advice to you is: Get new higher resolution Wide Screen unit. Then and only then, attempt a refurb job on F50 to keep as a working antique spare monitor. 12fixlouie
No power
Try it on another PC first, if it still does not work then you will have to open it up. If you are going to DIY repair, then please read below and look at my albums so you will know what to look for inside.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Each time i access my address book it tells me to
you have logged this under a LCD screen problem, surely you are on about a mobile phone? This is normal for most mobile phones when they are first switched on although 10 minutes is very excessive. If its a constant problem then do contact support
MY monitor flashes, goes black then comes back on.
well this might be because the power cord of the monitor is loose contact so check it. if it is ok then check the power options settings in the control panel- performances and maintenance- power options- power schemes you will find turn off monitor option select the required option from drop down list and apply the settings.
good luck
I need a new motherboard for my hp pavillion f50.
You can find motherboard for most systems on EBay
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=HP+Motherboard&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_dmpt=Motherboards&_odkw=pavillion+motherboard&_osacat=0
That is a generic search for an HP motherboard. You will need to refine the search for the model of your tower (F50 is the model of the Monitor)
The screen is very dark
If you can make out a faint image then the fault is a backlight problem.
The fault could be an inverter board or the CCFL lamp/s
