Beeping Upon Bootup

Hey, my Poweredge 2400 has started beeping upon powerup and nothing will appear onscreen...I'm wondering if the power supply might be going? The green light on the power supply is on continuously, but the red light below blinks every few seconds and it seems that the beeps might be corresponding to the blinking red light. Also, no lights turn on on the front of the server tower. Can anybody help?

Dependent on how many beeps you hear is dependent on what might be the problem. A fuller explanation from pushing the power button to nothing happening would be more than helpful. Beeps in a Poweredge can mean motherboard, memory or as you said power supply problems.

I was just adding more storage to my pe 1800 and it started beeping. i.e long beep stop and then beep again. four amber light were on from the hard drive bay 2 to four being the new bay for the new...

A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged. Beeping usually means a memory issue.

HP notepad - continueous beeping sound with equal sign characters

If you are getting a lot of = character along with the beeping, this indicates you have a stuck = key and the beeping sound is the keyboard buffer is swamped with the = character. If you can't unstick this key, then you need to replace the keyboard.

Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Server occasionally beeps when running

Check out this site:

http://bioscentral.com/postcodes/dellbios.htm

Write down the exact number of beeps and how long they last to find what the error means. The are call BIOS post codes and they resemble Morse Code. (ie. one long, 3 short, 2 long = RAM issue) Good luck!!

Constant beeping

I would first check that all the fans are turning when you first power it up. It may have fan speed sensors on them, and one or more fans aren't coming up to speed. I would check the CPU fan(s), as they are usually smaller, and tend to go bad before the other larger ones.

No Video Signal on 1600sc

Disconnect from the network and all other accessories, and power up the system, this might be due to a faulty device attached to the system, eg: when you connect a usb faulty device the boot takes very long time, sometime it does not boot up.
