Monitor going going gone

My monitor started getting fuzzy and going in and out and now it has died. sent it off and was told that the entire motherboard needs replacing. However this message board indicates that perhaps i can just change the graphic card out. Can you expand?

Out of the blue, the icons on my desktop are fuzzy/wavy. One day fine, the next fuzzy/wavy. I hooked up another monitor and got the same result. Any suggestions!

I'm assuming that you have tested the other monitor by using another cable so in that case the video card on your pc is dying, replace it.

Screen has gone very fuzzy all

Try another known good working monitor on your computer, if the screen looks good then you know the monitor is bad. If the known good working monitor looks fuzzy as well then you know the video card is bad on it and would need to be replaced.

The monitor display has vertical lines, flickering images

Have you tried using another monitor or running another OS (a Linux Live-CD)? If yes and it's the same then the video card memory has died, nothing you can do . The entire video card is gone, buy a new one.

No power

The monitors CRT tube has blinked out. If it's 2-3 yrs old my advice would be to buy a new one, maybe go in for a TFT screen. If uner warranty then simply report to their service center. If one has to try repairing it, start from the HT section & it the tube is OK then think in terms of repairs, otherwise if the Tube is gone then better to buy a new monitor.................sodeep
