I had a paper jam in the printer and I believe that I removed the jam, however I'm getting an error message that the back door is open and to close it. I have tried to do this. I can't see that anything is open. My email address is [email protected]

The switch/sensor or actuator for the rear door may be damaged or out of place. The switch is located on the High Voltage Power Supply (Part# WH773). Iteminc.com has this part in stock and can ship same day. The sensor which reads if the door is open can go bad and it is part of the HVPS. Here is a video that explains this error and shows you how to replace it. This will fix this problem 90% of the time, just make sure you set the HVPS correctly on TOP of the actuator (plastic piece that hits the switch). If for some reason this does not work, check that the actuator is not broken and try reseating the HVPS and try again. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I get a false notice that there is a paper jam reading on 440 dn. No jam occurred-open and close door-and it works. Why the false error message? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Believe it or not, I received the same message. I actually found a tiny piece of paper stuck in the rollers. A previous user might have had a jam and paper crumbled and ripped when removed.

Sometimes with the paper being removed the message will not clear try restarting your printer. It's also a good idea to clean your printer heads and printer altogether.

Good Luck

My Dell MFP 1815dn has a paper Jam 2. I removed the toner cartridge and pulled the paper out, before I realized that I needed to open the back. I believe I thought I got the paper out, but the printer is...

After a paper jam occurs in the rear cover of a Dell Laser Multi-Function Printer 1815N, the printer will not resume when the jammed paper is removed. This is the normal behavior of the printer as there is no sensor on the rear cover of this printer.

To open the back cover and remove any stuck paper, perform the following steps:
  1. Open and close the front cover.
The jammed paper may automatically exit the printer. If the paper does not exit, go to the next step.
  2. Gently pull the paper out of the output tray.
  3. If you cannot see the paper in the output tray or the paper does not move when pulled, open the rear cover.
  4. Skip to step 9. If you do not see the paper, go to the next step.If you see the jammed paper, push the two blue pressure levers up and remove the paper.
  5. Release the blue strap, the rear cover stopper, and fully open the rear cover.
  6. Unfold the duplex guide fully.
  7. While pushing the fuser lever to the right, open the fuser door. NOTICE: Make sure to unfold the duplex guide before opening the fuser door, or the fuser door may be damaged.
  8. Pull the jammed paper out.
  9. Return the levers, fuser door, rear cover stopper, and duplex guide to their original position.
  10. Close the rear cover.
  11. Open and close the front cover.
    Printing automatically resumes.

I get an error message that there is a paper jam in the front door, there is no jam. I open and close the front door and then it says the jame is in the fuser, ive taken that out and no jam hp 3550 laser...

Often when you get this error, there is a jam that is very difficult to see. You need to open the printer, remove the bottom two cartridges and the transfer belt. Then close the door part way and look straight down inside the printer. That part of the printer is called the registraion assembly and there is a paper sensor in there that often gets stuck with a small piece of paper after a paper jam is removed. You can carefully lift up on that assembly to unseat it and have a look underneath..

Printer keeps saying it has a paper jam and to remove the jam from the back. There is nothing there! I think it just wants me to open and close the rear door, but that only fixes it sometimes. How do I...

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

Paper jam message no paper jam cartridge gets stuck HP 6310 all in one

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

No matter what I do, I get the "Back Cover Open.. close the back cover" error message. I've repeatedly opened/closed the back cover, taken out toner cartridge, checked for paper jams or scraps. ...

I Had the Same Problem with a printer i got for free. I tried messing around with the back door sensor flag(spring loaded piece) but it seemed to be located correctly.

I believe the switch has dual purpose first to check for the back cover closed and to see when a paper has gone around the rollers. It would only give me the "back cover" error when a new paper was loaded and would go around the rollers. I would then remove this piece of paper and try again and it would give me the same error.

This lead me to believe that the sensor was working like it should and it could be a programming bug. I couldnt find a way to reset the printer so I took off the left side cover by removing one front and one back screw. (UNPLUG POWER OF COURSE) Then pulled each connector and plugged them back in. This seemed to reset the printer and now it works!!!!

HP Color LaserJet 3500, 3550, and 3700 Series Printers - Paper Jams Alternating Between Front and Back Door Issue Description Customers may see paper jams error messages with no paper seen in the paper path. The message will alternate between check the front door and the back door. Workaround The release lever engagement tabs on the rear door can be bumped into the in-correct position. The purpose for this tab is to re-engage the fuser release levers as the rear door is closed. When one or both of these are left in the in-correct position the printer goes into a cycle of alternating between a "Jam in the Front Door" message and "Jam in the Rear Door" message. There is no paper present in the paper path when this happens. When a customer gets the "Jam in the Front Door" message and opens the front door, no paper is found. After the customer closes the front door, they get the "Jam in the Rear Door" message. When they open the rear door, find not paper (even pull out the fuser), and close the rear door, they get the "Jam in the Front Door" message. This cycle will continue

Placing both engagement tabs in the "Correct" position solves the problem and allows the print job to continue.for as long as the customer is willing to keep checking.
