Sound M/B not detecting on board sound chip,or PCI sound cards I have a HP Compaq D220 PC Desktop. My integrated soundcard SoundMAX was working well and I could record sound on this sound card with sound recording programs. When I installed a PCI sound card Creative Live CT4670, the later works but I can not record sound on this Creative Live card with recording programs. I uninstalled the Creative Live and my PC does not find the integrated card any more. I use many way (add hardware, install driver..) but the PC still say "no audio device. Please help me to solv following problems: (1) make the integrated sound card SoundMAX work (2) how to record sound on PCI Creative Live. Thank you very much

Dear Sirs,
Thank you for your help.
1- I checked every line of every page of BIOS setup but I could not find anything related to Onboard Soundcard. I unistalled the driver of the PCI Creative soundcard and restore system to the time point before installing the PCI Creative soundcard. My PC still showed "No Audio Device". So I returned to PCI Creative Soundcard.
2- I install the PCI Creative soundcard and do as your instructions and it works, I can record from this source.
Thanks again for your support.

1a. Probably the moment that you inserted the PCI sound card the BIOS disabled automatically the onchip sound. Please go to BIOS and check if Onboard sound is enabled.
1b.If the BIOS is reporting ENABLED for Onchip Sound the most likely drivers were not unistalled properly from the first card. Please go to safe mode-->Device Manager-->Hardware Devices and Uninstall the Creative Card from there.

2. On the PCI Creative card you have not enable the microphone recording from the speaker icon or from control panel. (double click the speaker icon and then OPTIONS-->Properties-->Recording-->Microphone (Tick this)
Make sure that on Control Panel-Sounds and Multimedia the Audio Hardware is showing for the PCI Creative Card.

Regards

My soundcard is not working while using 8vm533m-rz model gigabyte mother board in windows 7

so the PC mobo has and addin, PCI card sound"?
2004 PC mobo relic, now and 13yo to you.
no card told. (fail)(buy only w7 allowed card if must)
you did say CARD so means NOT ON-BOARD sound chip.
relic P4 PC. mobo
v1.0 mobo?
this trash mobo uses EOL DOA, via chipsets, that do not allow w7
Integrated Realtek ALC662 audio CODEC chip
this chip set is dead too, from maker realtek.
if you knew that, and added a secret sound card.
this mobo only does windows 200o to XP says so on page one at gigabytes this mobo.
so w7 does not belong hear unless replacing every thing there that fails 1 by 1, , pain. ive done this vast times, for folks willing to.
last xp driver is here for realtek
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/8VM533M-RZ-rev-10/support#support-dl-driver

as a rule only this OEM maker PC can make there sound chips work (as a team of parts) not simple as many think, even has mixer chips and more, all custom to maker.
yes cards work better,
on this mobo the VIA chip and codec chip must work or sound will be dead. and is common this. lacking no vista driver up, ever/

this mobo has no SATA ports nor any PCI express card slots at all.
and finding PCI (non express) cards that can run w7 can be hard.
for sure now. yes possible, with careful searching specs of relic PCI cards.
also the VIA chip dead makes The ethernet port dead too. and usb dead and IDE drives dead, vista up.
never buy VIA chipped mobo. or pain is all there is. no drivers.

My sund device wnt show up anywhere n my system(cmpaq evo usdt)

You should first check you have not accidentally muted it in both windows and on the speakers itself. Next go into Device Manager and check the sound driver is installed (no yellow exclamation marks can be seen).
If this has not resolved the problem then it is probably your soundcard. If you soundcard is integrated onto the motherboard then there may be further defects.
Check what internal ports you have free, there should be some long ports called PCI or PCI-e (not ports in line with the RAM). You can then buy a PCI/PCI-e sound card and it will just clip into the slots.
Hope this helps,

My motherboard is mercury with an inbuilt soundcard. the soundcard is not working

Do you know for sure your speakers are working? Or is Windows saying there's no sound device? Does the Device Manager tree show any problems (! symbol) by sound hardware entries? Has the integrated sound been disabled in the BIOS settings?

Try downloading the sound drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's website and reinstall. This often solves the problem.

If the integrated sound has failed, install a PCI sound card if there is an open slot on the board. Or you can also purchase a USB external sound card and plug it into an open USB port, and you don't even need to open the computer. Just be sure to disable the integrated sound in the motherboard BIOS setup.

Thanks for using Fixya! Hope your computer is talking again soon.

My compaq evo d150 pc doesnt have a sound...i tried checking the devices but there were no drivers existing. I tried so many drivers but failed. i even tried putting an intex sound card but it didnt...

Sound on Compaq evo d150. The next site says:
http://www.orixrentec.com.my/hp_4.htm
Audio: "Integrated Intel Audio with Premium Internal Speaker".
So there should be a:
* speaker inside
* working on an Intel driver.

The chipset of the motherboard is Intel 845G.
The AC 97 audio driver can be installed by online detection of
your hardware using the Intel driver update utility:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/detect.htm

When using a PCI-slot for extra sound, the matching driver of the
PCI-audio-card should be installed. Of course external powered and wired speakers will be required as well.

New sound card for HP d530 small form factor..

You just have to look for a "low-profile" PCI card. Creative makes one, Audigy SE SB0570LPVP

Search that for a vendor, or low-profile for other manufacturers.
