HP does not currently have a driver for Windows 7 or even for Vista according to the attached HP site.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=60398&

You can try using the HP OfficeJet V40 driver for Vista as people have had success using this in the Vista environment. I haven't heard how it does in the Windows 7 environment.

It's either that or buy another printer.

Good luck!

Where to find driver for HP Deskjet 6988 printer in Windows 7 ?

You'll find any available drivers for the HP Deskjet 6988 on the support page for the 6980 series printers: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-6980-printer-series/468002/model/3422864 .

The Windows 7 driver should be found by Windows Update when you connect the printer with a USB cable. If you are using the printer in a network, you need to manually add a printer (using the wizard) from the Printers and Devices Control Panel. Start this after you have the printer connected to your router or switch. See https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01796879 and expand the section for Wireless or Wired Connection (Windows 7, Vista).

I hope this helps.
